How did Gabriel see souls in real world? I get it he's a psychopath, but he developed this Chunnibyou since childhood?

Then ... he is going to be the only one in that virtual world to see souls fading because he is a superuser with a unique skill to see and consume those souls to gain access to those souls' memories. righttttttt okay I guess?

Gabriel and Sugou are nothing alike though.

lmao copy and past villains. I didn't know that Quinella was a copy and past of Kayaba, which is a copy and paste of Sugu and Death Gun. All of them are compltely different from each other, with different personalities, ambitions and only Gabriel even is a socipath. Only Kayaba and Quinella are good but to say that they're the same? Don't be delusional.

And Alicization is the best arc of SAO by far. You're just anime-only who don't know what you're talking about, as all previous arcs outside of Mother Rosario are average to bad.

"You're just anime-only"

Stop insulting people who simply state their opinion about an episode. And do you realize how ridiculous you sound when you keep insulting people for "just watching the anime"? Which is what almost everyone does. It's nothing to brag about that you read the Light Novel. To watch a two-dimensional story as this as light animated entertainment is fine. To spend hours and hours READING what should simply be an anime is embarrassing. It just shows you don't know what real literature is.

Why do you think we keep calling them Light Novels, or even just LNs, instead of novels? Because they aren't real novels. They're crap. A simple story like this in cartoon form is okay. But when stretched out on page after page, with no animation, that's crap.

So stop pretending you're superior to "just anime-only" watchers. If you could only realize how ridiculous you sound.

Imagine you going to school with that attitude. "YOU GUYS HAVEN'T READ THESE LIGHT NOVELS I HAVE READ! THAT'S PATHETIC!"

And everyone goes, oh shit, it's this weirdo again.

You hinder your argument by saying they don’t know what real literature is because they read the light novel of a highly-polarising anime.

You put yourself in the same position that you denounced earlier in your post. Being that person who thinks they’re better than the others because of so and so. It’s very ironic.

People can like what they like. Art is subjective, regardless of medium.

And now Gabriel has checked all the requiriments to be a legit SAO villain:

A. Rape. Come on, in his mind he basically cummed over the dead body of that Lipia. It's enough.

B. Intent of Mass Murder by war.

SAO never disappoints us.

hahaha what the fuck is that damn argument. How can anime only people be so retarded with things like this? He cummed over the dead body of Lipia because he's overjoyed to have killed a person? What the fuck. hahaha Not only that but rape never happened in SAO, only sexual assault and this fucking thing here isn't RAPE NOR SEXUAL ASSAULT YOU DUMBASS. How the fuck can you ever reach a level of interpretation like this? It's absurdly stupid that I have to read this. Only in anime I have to read things like that, not in the manga or LN community, those things just happens when those works get anime adaptations, because delusional people like you comes from the bottom of hell to make arguments like those.

I think that SAO should prefer male characters rather than one-dimensional ones like Alice, Silica or Lisbeth. Alice has no personality except that they fight well and the others did not exist in the original SAO. The best arcs are Aincrad and Deathgun. The first part of Alicization is a copy of the Aincrad Arc (1-24) and the second part (25-47) of the Fairy Dance Arc. Now Kirito must be saved, with the power of friendship. And good animations can not compensate for these weaknesses and the LN Vol. 18 disappointed me. The other volumes are just Sidestory of Alicization or a new Arc.

Thanks for confirming that it's literally wishful thinking.

Also, the best arcs are Aincrad and Death Gun (which is just the name of the antagonist, the name of the arc is Phantom Bullet). I have to laugh to read this when SAO is completely average or literally bad outside of Mother Rosario, Alicization, Unital Ring or the side series Progressive, which is the actual good Aincrad arc as it's not just one volume and has the entire foucs on it.

Attack and insult anyone for their own opinion? WOW, so people have to like it only and aren't allowed to have any negative opinion to it, right? You could correct/answer their thought/question or whatever, but directly attack them for hating the show? Amazing

I see. So it means if such person has strong sense/confidence/believe on anything. Such is possible through virtual world even if those are impossible irl. Welp, I'll just sit back and not think too much of all these anime logics and enjoy the show then lol. Thanks for clarification btw.

Two interesting characters are killed by generic villain. Even the ALO Arc is much better than this. SAO have three huge problems since season 1, Kirito needs a male partner, this series can´t function with a female protagonist, because they have a bad character development even Klein, Agil, Death Gun and Kayaba would better than Alice or Asuna. Most annoying part in this series is the unneccesary harem.

Alice's character development is alright. Its not particularily bad, I mean we know who she is, where she is from, her goals/objectives, personality, her interests, and her back story. It was not done excellently or near as good as Eugio's like you mentioned. We do see harem elements but they are not profound in this season. Too soon to say.

She has lost her memories, meaning she is actually a different character. It's a bit like a helpless girl who can only be saved by Kirito. For this reason I do not like this Arc and you can say that almost all male characters are more interesting than Alice. Especially Eiji and Eugeo are to be mentioned here. The problem is, Alice is about to become a good character when she kills several goblins. It's the same with Asuna. Except for Sinon.

Man, I thought the great Sword Art Online: Alicization would bring it to another level, but that author is as repetitive as his villains.

The episodes before gave hope for a more interesting villain Gabriel, it turned out to be the usual SAO dude just more insane. The scene with the dead young girl was a little too disturbing, I don't need such things. And for what purpose and why can random guy eat souls just like that, how can that be part of the virtual world?

Lol right after diving in the fantasy world he wasted quite some time with a dead Lipia and sitting on his throne, don't forget your job or JDSF will be coming for you.

Oh and I wonder why he is invincible all of a sudden.

This is a answer I got when I asked the same thing

It's because shasta's attack wasn't at their physical bodies

His attacks were actually an incarnation attack directly at their fluctlights something that's only possible because they're all in light cube clusters. Since Gabriel is an existence outside the Underworld the attack has no affect. It's the same as Cardinal need Kirito because Quinella couldn't manipulate his fluctlight.

I has nothing to do with an account

I do get the memories reset but you still cannot forget that we do know how she got to this point. It is key information to her development including the reset. Even with the memories being reset, she still pretty much is like the Alice (Knight) from the previous season we got accustomed too. Almost exact.

However, I do see where you are coming from when you say the male characters you mentioned are more interesting.

Okay, the plot was already a mess, and now they just let it even more nosense.

1. Just 1 episode ago Gabriel was the chief of a hired random corps, now, from nowhere, he has a deep connection with wtf is this system and even killed another Alice, in real world? In another virtual system?

2. We can just assume Alice is a name like Maria in SAO world.

OKAY i will be pragmatic as i always have to be with SAO nosense, and read that all this trama was just to mean: "GABRIEL WANT TO KILL ALICE"

In the previous season when ppl in the game were killed, did you see the soul effect? No. That's because the soul coming out is something only the Emperor guy can see, it's not part of the game, nor of real life

As for the Alice thing. The name sounds similar to the antagonist's childhood friend Alicia so he associates the two and imagines that this is his second chance to see Alicia's soul, aka to kill her again

A classic in Sao use harassment and sexual attacks for the catharsis of villains.

The funny thing is that according to this article, the writer said he would not use it anymore (to make it politically correct), and in this chapter of Sao the villain had a catharsis stealing the fluxlight from a half-naked woman jkkjk
https://comicbook.com/anime/2019/01/20/sword-art-online-sexual-assault-plot-device-comments-reki-kawahara/
Edit: it seems he said it after doing the alicization, I don't know xd. Anyway, meh villain

You seriously think that it was actual sexual assault? How dumb are you?

You are the fool, for insulting without arguments.
It is not a sexual attack, it was a murder, but even so there were fanservice and the series showed it as a sexual attack for children to see as such.

The question isn't "What anime do you like?" That is merely a list.
The question is "Why do you like it?" That tells a story. Your story.

I thought I would get used to seeing SAO villains being messed up in their heads, but Gabriel takes this even further. Simply put, he's one dark and twisted scumbag.

His curiosity of wanting to see a human's soul as a kid led him to killing his friend, Alicia. He was so obsessed with seeing her soul that he showed no remorse whatsoever in killing her to achievement his objective. That's seriously messed up.

Even as an adult, that hasn't changed. With his power as the leader of the Dark Territory's army, he's going to be difficult to stop. He showed no Mercy at poor Lipia, who got killed easily and had her head chopped off and displayed in front of the entire army, which led to her lover general losing his cool and despite a beautifully animated transformation scene, he got wiped out with relative ease.

So yeah, this episode was brutal and dark in many ways, but it does leave me becoming more hyped up for this upcoming war now. =)

Boss: Alright, who will be the next villain
Employee 1: Someone who has military-style background
Boss:Alright, keep it going
Employee 2: He is also a gamer
Boss: Thats great! What else can we add to him?
Employee 3:He is just as demented as the one guy from Alheim.
Boss: Demented how so?
Employee 3: Demented so much that he,,,uh,,, he enjoys slurping others souls.
Boss: Stop! Thats it! We have an SAO villain, now lets go take a lunch break and watch Darling in the Franxx

Well goddamn, I never thought that they would kill that Dark Knight Woman this early, and now that Dark Knight Commander also disappeared. I wonder what will happen with his troops. Now, the war is nigh, and the humans are not that prepared, with the disappearance of the Quinella. I kinda wish for Quinella to be back under these circumstances and go on a head to head battle with Emperor Vecta.

Such a good episode! The War is about to begin!

The animation this episode was so good and looked really cool. Especially when Vixur got super pissed. Rip to the waifu Lipia :(

For me the vibe of this episode was really evil and dark. Just seeing Vecta commanding all of the soldiers to kill everything in the human empire and all of them all hyped for it made it pretty dark. Not to mention Gabriel stabbed his childhood friend in the ear and killed her...

Also, I saw some waifus in the dark territory not gonna lie 😏

Sooooooo, sorry in advance but lets talk physics here.

The time perception is accelerated inside the virtual world. Let's stay simple, imagining the time is accelerated 10 times (we know it is much more), 1 minute in the virtual world = 10 minutes in the outside world. How the fuck were the bad guys communicating in real time inbetween worlds? Let's say the new villain spent 1 minute chatting with the guy from the real world, that means the guy from the outside world would have spent 10 minutes chatting. So fucking dumb... this shit plus the souls shit is making me want to drop.

The time flow became the same when he uses the console to communicate with others outside the Underworld. They explain it in the previous season. Also, there’s an animation to indicate this change in the time flow.

No it's not. Nothing happened for the first two episodes then we got a very average action scene with Alice. After that all we got was Reki barely setting up a couple of characters just so he could kill them off to show off how evil and powerful teh bad guy is. Teh bad guy is also just another generic sociopath like every other villain in SAO.

Just like every single bad guy in this series.

Sums up the episode in a nutshell. Here I thought, we may finally have something new on our hands.

That flashback for Gabriel was crazy though, did he really kill that girl as a kid?
Felt bad for Lipis to end up dying like that. :(

I guess this cements Quinella as the best antagonist in the series so far, shame we'll never see her again. xD

Yeah, I think he really did kill Alicia (and some others) to try to see their souls like he did with Alicia. I like Gabriel more than Quinella tbh, I like that he has a more clear purpose and motives. Also Quinella was naked constantly which was hot af but made it hard to take her seriously lol.

It’s not that hard to explain. If they can program the time acceleration, then Rath also would be able to program the console to transmit a voice both ways in real time. You have to remember it’s all digital, time itself isn’t literally being accelerated in the Underworld that’s impossible. Also I think the technology behind fluctlights has been one of the things they did well.

It’s hard to guess, it’ll definitely be a reveal later though. My first thought was maybe he was in Underworld as a child when he killed her but I think that’s unlikely if not impossible.

To sum up my opinions so far I think everything after the Sage of the Library info dumped the show into plot hell was bad in part 1, but I liked the first half of part 1 a lot. So far these 4 episodes have been pretty good imo. I’m interested in the invasion of Gabriel’s faction of Underworld, and the plot has improved since Quinella was killed.

I’ve heard people saying Gabriel is a typical rapey crazy Sao villain, but I don’t necessarily agree. Nothing he’s done has been related to rape, he’s just a classic sociopath with a fascination for souls since he’s empty inside. He’s probably crazy/insane as well, but not like a maniacal crazy he’s a calm and calculating guy. He’s the only SAO villain I think I’ve ever truly liked. In a show focused on souls his mental issues surrounding souls are relevant and interesting.

The only thing that I’ve disliked so far is the line where the Dark Knight Commander said he couldn’t be killed because his soul is alive and dead. Wtf does that even mean? If it gets explained further and makes sense later on cool, but it just sounds like edgy nonsense for now.

Edit: Forgot to mention the animation is unreasonably gorgeous, and is the highlight of the show imo.

Oh great... just what we needed, another cringe villian like the one from ALO arc.... The story repeats itself once more.

Maybe it was my fault to think SAO would deliver because of all the flashbacks of them training in GGO and the invasion of the base by them. I expected some military discipline and strategic thinking to get Alice.

The War hasn’t even started yet, how do you know there is no strategy? Also everything Gabriel did was strategical. He played the part as the Emperor and is planning on using the armies as a tool to get Alice. Would it be easier for an entire army to seize a girl, or two guys?

Two interesting characters are killed by generic villain. Even the ALO Arc is much better than this. SAO have three huge problems since season 1, Kirito needs a male partner, this series can´t function with a female protagonist, because they have a bad character development even Klein, Agil, Death Gun and Kayaba would better than Alice or Asuna. Most annoying part in this series is the unneccesary harem.
Klein, Agil, Death Gun, and Kayaba literally had zero development and stayed the same. They’re all mediocre characters imo as well. Asuna is likable at least (but not amazing). Eugeo was decent and had development. Alice imo has had the most development of any SAO character ever, so I don’t know what you mean. I think she’s a decent character too.

Holy fuck, this was unexpected( not the fact that the villain is insane once again xD) Pretty intense episode, but why did Lipia have to die? She was too hot 😭
I was gonna text my buddy “wow, many new SAO Waifus 😯” and now the cutest one is super dead so never mind. RIP.

None of that ever existed on the web novel. This guy is a complete troll. Only two scenes existed, which were on Fairy Dance and the one from Alicization, which appeared on last season. After that, Kawahara never wrote any scene with sexual assault, ever, it stopped there.

And if you think that Gabriel did anything sexual, you're delusional as heck, as he just killed the woman much like he did with the guy and will do in the future as well.

the villains aren't only gabriel. I did not say specifically that he sexually assaults woman, but he still abuses them not sexually. okay, he killed a woman and a guy equally, but why shows the woman only? why put a scene that makes the audience uncomfortable m8 ?

okay, it's a troll, but still, it doesn't change the fact that the villain is all about abusing a woman from what the scene tells us all. no even a single guy in a scene got abuse in an emphasis way
if you want to kill someone, just kill it, why enjoys it. asuna in the first season second cour, shinon (ggo) and the previous season 2 girl almost got raped.

no offense, i like the series, the villain is the only thing that i hate. if some people like that kind of character then okay. im not gonna said anything. but it's a fact too that some people dislike it and find it uncomfortable

I know you guys are worried how Alice, Kirito, Asuna and their knight pals probably will merciless slaughter a bunch of that random cute & busty & innocent Dark Mage Waifus, right?

The scene where he killed her didn’t really make me uncomfortable though. Strangulation is a pretty reliable way to kill someone if you’re unarmed and stronger physically, maybe he also didn’t want her to scream for help. It’s morbid but it was a realistic scenario imo. To draw a parallel both his murders shown were female, he may have killed guys since he said he experimented on trying to view souls. Also if he strangled or stabbed a guy, would we really care? It’s more impactful that they’re female, everyone will feel bad for a cute girl more than a guy. He didn’t enjoy killing her, he enjoyed seeing her soul. Even if he did enjoy killing her that’s like basic anime villain shit, who cares? Bad guys do bad shit.

I almost laughed when I saw the cleavage, it looks so out place lol. I don’t really mind though, a little cleavage never hurt anybody.
