When you watch an anime episode, be that that of an airing or finished one, do you rate the episode on MAL afterwards?(I mean the poll at the episode discussion thread)
Or do rate more at once after you'd watched a few episodes?
Or you don't care about such things at all?

I myself always rate episodes of currently airing titles after I'd watched it, but rarely do it with finished ones.

You mean the poll in the episode discussion thread?

Yeah I have been for every episode this season. Polls are fun.

If you mean updating the actual score for the show, then yes to that also. The score can fluctuate a lot early in the season, it's fun to see how my opinion changes from week to week. And it's fun to think about what aspects of the show worked for me or didn't work if I'm lowering the score.

ye, it's fun to see how high an ep can be rated when it comes out, and then proceed to drop when the hater spam of 1/5's come (like Given ep.9)

But that's only with seasonal's though, regular times I don't bother

I still don't know why it got so many hate votes

It has exactly the same amount of 1/1 votes as ep19 of KnY, 55.

And there's a huge difference in the overall number of votes
Without those, ep.9 of Given would be 94.55% atm

Sometimes when I watch an episode and think "man this one was so great" or "wtf it sucked so much" or "wtf this differed so much from the quality of the previous episodes- I don't know what's going on" or "jesus that character was so hot/funny/smart" etc, then I want to express it somewhere, and I dont think it's a good idea to spam friends with things they most likely have no clue about, so at times like that I come to express my thoughs on MAL. So the answer is: sometimes.

I sometimes do that when it's an anime I really like but I mostly check the forums to view other people's opinion on a certain anime.

Yeah, oftentimes I leave a rating and read a little bit of the episode discussion while the ED plays.

I have voted in a few of those polls before, but I don't do it anymore.

First, very often I don't have a specific opinion on each episode. In my opinion, it really doesn't make sense to constantly be in 'evaluation mode' thinking, and trying to do so detracts from the experience, because instead of just enjoying myself, it's like I'm having to ask "do I really enjoy this?" "is this good or bad?" etc., and these questions are distracting and immersion-disrupting.

And second, it often makes more sense to ask oneself for one's opinion on each story arc, or for that matter the whole story, rather than individual episodes. This is particularly the case for episodes that set up for later plot points.

I don't rate the episodes every time, generally I write a comment on the episode and if the episode surprise me, in a good or in a bad way, probably I rate it.

I don't partake in any episode discussion threads. But I'll personally rate an episode if I feel like it. Often times I don't though, unless it's either really good or really bad.

Sometimes in the discussion threads, especially with the first and last episode of the series and leaving a post with my view of the episode. Rarely rating though...

About 99,9% no, I only rated it when one episode was particularly really good compared to previous episodes, and I think I always rated them 5/5. The rest of the times I don't care about it.

I don't rate them because it is not that important for me and like I watch anime occasionally I prefer not to because my opinion can change through the time when I talk about that anime with other people and get different points of view on it

Personally don't rate episodes, just rating the whole anime season after I've watched everything since then i can gather my thoughts on how good it was overall. Occasionally, if it's an anime ive been crazy about i would rate episodes from time to time.

Rarely. It is not a part of my habit, so I would just forget most of the time. It is kind of a burden to rate them now. I usually only rate episodes that were very memorable to me. Maybe I will try to rate episodes more regularly now.

Not really because I do not always log into MAL after every episode I watch, I normally watch around 6 episodes before coming back onto MAL. I rate all completed shows though.

Rarely, I do it only for manga. I feel like most episodes really aren't that amazing by themselves. Of course, if they're really good or really bad, I'll probably rate it

I rate per episode on a spreadsheet so I can use decimal values for rating and then acquire the averages that have extended digits past the thousandth. On MAL, I don't rate per episode though. I rate to the nearest whole number based on the average on my spreadsheet after I finish the entry or 100 episodes of a 200+ episode show if I can't wait

The per episode basis is just an idea and isn't confirmed until I generally get to the end. Then off of that, determine if any positive or negative adjustments are needed after an overall picture/impression of the series has been established.

1 episode entries that extend 60 minutes or more like movies, I like to rate by minutes as I want to avoid whole numbers on my spreadsheet to avoid ties.
