THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The third episode is out on Amazon Prime. I don't trust Ryuuichirou Nomaru much but he does have certain important powers in his position. Seems the episode brings together a case that vulnerable people are targetted. Seizaki's investigation really brings a lot about his character as he looks into all his resources. ![]() |
Just in case regarding the 3 weeks wait, yes/no: MAL Message 58476151. So first things first; It was nice to see Prime releasing the first 3 episodes. Now we had a nice beginning of the Arc that was presented and completely had the introduction. At least those with the 3-episode rule should now be aware if they like the anime and want to continue or not... It looks interesting. Curious about the woman behind it though... Also saw the Revoroot... Well, I expected as such but they still have the same animation style. Sometimes completely fluid like jelly (which is great) and sometimes just stiff (which is less great, but still better than 3DCG overal...) If you like Psycho-Pass or Zankyou no Terror, this is def. something for you. ![]() |

Throwing my 2 cents of the 3 episodes all together, and using spoiler tags to save people who don't want to read a wall of text Wow. Could it be that Japan finally managed to craft a good cop thriller anime without the bullshit? Even though episode 1 was a bit slow it was a good setup and I loved that Fumino was a real character, where a lot of the times anime just makes this kind of "first blood" character be a part of the MC's story told in a flashback. There were no deatflags for Fumino, I surely thought he was actually going to be the main character in the story, so making hima victim in this particular case was a really good plot twist. Episode 2 was my favorite so far. The cinematography is just phenomenal (you might want to learn something about using aspect ratios Kanata no Astra director Masaoumi Andou). The way Magase Ai is leading Zen by just filling him in what she thinks it's what he needs to know so far it's just phenomenal, not only in the way it's framed with a wider screen ratio but also the character fluid animation in her small movements and the subtle and manipulative voice acting; she truly became a modern Sharon Stone from Basic Instincts. Back to the cinematography, it's amazing how it shifts from a cinemascope 2:35.1 to old 4:3 SDTV from the 80s with a bit of sepia tone and film grain to accentuate the old vibe in the prostitution scene with the old folks. Also her statement being shifted into the prostitution scene in sepia tones had a really nice effect that only Satoshi Kon was able to portray in Millenium Actress and I really haven't seen anyone replicate that style since then. The hand gestures and the transition effects of Ai's implied fellatio was a really nifty touch on behalf of the animators. Zen's names meaning "Justice" & "Good Deeds" makes me think even further that he's a great example of a straight arrow, a character that goes avobe and beyond in order to show off the dirty deeds of politicians no matter if those deeds might make a city grow, he reminds me a lot of Jack Ryan from 1994's movie "Clear & Present Danger". I'm really eager how this cat and mouse game will unfold Episode 3 even though it shifted gears, it was really nice as a twist to stablish the role of the doctor from the first episode along to put Itsuki as a master of his own rather than just being a puppet for Nomaru. I'm seriously invested in seeing where does Itsuki wants to go with this massive suicide pill. I'm not a guy that likes dubs on regular basis, but I think this kind of title where all the cast it's meant to be in ther 30s could be a great adquisition for me for rewatches and not feeling off with teenagers sounding like adults. Also not having to pause or slow down scenes in order to connect the dots between the characters' agendas. ![]() |
Holy shit, this is getting better and better. The build up to this point has been great, in particular the reveal at the end and the directing when they used Magase Ai's different appearances along with the flashback shots gave me chills(OST added to it too) Even the first episode seems a lot better in retrospect. At first I was kinda worried because it was one of the anime I was looking forward the most to and the first episode didn't really live up to my hopes. However, releasing 3 episodes at once was a good move. Definitely hooked now and I'm looking forward to see more. Also hope they're going to go more in-depth with the moral principle aspect. Black pill the anime :V There's good direction to be found here. The mc can be too naive for a prosecutor. I wonder what kind of explanation the show will give regarding the use of the pill because I can see this getting pretty ridiculous. ![]() |
Easily 9/10, with 10/10 being Monster. (Just so my metrics in that genre are more clear: Psycho Pass was 10/10 during the first ~6 eps and then kinda fell down to 6/10 in s1 and 4/10 in s2. ZnT is 7/10) Now let's hope the show is actually able to properly handle politics and gendered violence, which nowadays is much more of a tightrope walk than it was back in the days of Monster. From the looks of things, it will go into religion more i think. ![]() |
Damn, this is one fantastic start to this series. The directing and atmosphere really pulls me in. Also, more hyped for Babylon than Babylonia, and that's coming from an FGO player :P ![]() |
watched the 3 episodes. the dilemma she brought up in episode 2 was great though. the one about hating war and liking war coexisting. I sat down and analyzed that dilemma myself and my conclusion was, and I can't believe it myself, is to indoctrinate the one liking war into pretty much "peace good, war bad". just like the certain political leaning chanting "orange man bad" basically. is the show going to be about detective investigation or moral gray areas like this? if former then I'll drop this but if latter I'll stick in. ![]() >I had no brain when I was 12 >Then everyone must had no brain when they were 12 >I experimented 100 samples and proved that they had no brain when they were 12 >Therefore children cannot consent This is what science has done to humanity. |
This series will clearly cover the issue of values taken for granted in today's society. I like it, as well as a new autonomous city where they will clearly use it as a guinea pig with both drugs and weapons, where if there is one I read to allow death there will be another where they will pass as if it were a cigar a hard drug and so ... (if they understood me) and clearly use an antagonist who knows how to manipulate in the most insertable place in people, in other words the sex in which they made it excellent in Chapter 2 (here the prota did not fall into their game because clearly his values and discourse of life were alienated, so the antagonist made so much emphasis on his name, good detail). Hopefully it does not decline in script as always happens with the Japanese thrillers, but for now I have a lot of enthusiasm for this proposal. But, The Amazon prime app it's fucking garbage ![]() |
Oh shit lol I am hooked. No supernatural BS, no shitty anime tropes. I like this team of the reporter, researcher and prosecutor. I hope none of them will die. So I guess this woman is behind everything. ![]() |
At long last, when we'd thought we reached the end of the line, suddenly being sideswiped isn't an option, and that is now Seizaki is feeling now with Prof. Inaba and Fumio's deaths. What's more is politics fusing with war, for their own pleasures. DAT REVELATION when the manipulative woman whom Seizaki interrogated, they're one and the same. Magase Ai, the shapeshift female who's able to leave people in a daze. Add that with Prof Inaba's suicide drug with the 1st episode's clue of the paper with many F's drawn on it, the 1st episode in hindsight was all but a concise plan in the making. That gave me shivers and a judgement plan so chilling it froze me. The 3-episode wait is over, and it's safe to say that I'm very invested in this gory thriller series. Now we have to wait 3 weeks. ![]() |
With mind control it's hard to say this anime is within realism boundary, yes it look serious with political and stuffs but it's gonna be quite fantasy. And since the novel is not finished yet I don't think this anime will provide the satisfying answer I'm looking for. This case might already solved in novel, but detective fiction usually have connection across cases. ![]() |

First 3 episodes was a 9.5/10 for me. Everything was well crafted. Direction and Cinematography is phenomenal. As a huge fan of the Mystery & Thriller genre so this is right on my alley. The moral and philosopical arguments on the show is also pretty strong. Character/facial emotions was excellent and you can clearly tell and feel each of the characters' personalities. Out of all the many new anime to come out this Fall 2019 that I've already watched, this sure comes out on top and there's no close second. ![]() |

It looks very promising. I'm glad they released 3 episodes so now we know what to expect from the show ![]() |
Interesting so far. Good atmosphere with the eerie music every now and then. Only Ai Magase I don't like. I fear this might turn into some story where she is just the bad evil without any further explanation - + superpower-hypnosis. If they make some more realistic plot with drugs involved for the suicide or the people actually wanting to suicide already (easier to explain hypnosis then) + some background on Ai Magase ... would be better. Still ... even if it doesn't get that good for the atmosphere could even get max 8/10 at the end for me. Mayor guy clearly was involved - and working together with Magase. (Unless she also controls him. Or he is controlling her.) Let's see how the other guy reacts ... he might have been used by the mayor guy (and maybe one of the next targets). Edit: The one supernatural thing about Ai Magase is that she actually can look pretty different. I doubt you could explain that with hypnosis if even video footage records here different looks. And the way they talked about this it probably isn't just using some different clothes and a wig. ![]() Modified by Luthandorius, Oct 7, 11:51 AM |

Very nice turn of events at the end of the ep there. Overall enjoyed all 3 of the episodes. Animation is consistent and the art style is overall appealing to me. Anime was like other normal anime with a normal story . Episode 1 was really enteresting because of that two characters but sadly one of them already dead . But episode 2 Actually i started to lose interest in watching this anime starting episode two because of woman that appeared in episode 2 she was really disgusting woman🤮🤮 but i tried to endure it hoping that will not be an important character in story. But after watching episode 3 and knowing that she one of the main totally supernatural character. And all that porn scence bothering a lot and making people lose their focus on important dialogues. I lost all my interest on anime . ![]() Modified by Thamirakkurd, Oct 7, 3:07 PM |
Damn, releasing 3 episodes at once made this so much better, watching episode 3 makes episode 1 and 2 look better in retrospect. Can't wait until episode 4 airs, leaving it off at this point is such a cliffhanger yet at the same time builds up a lot of hype for what's to come. ![]() |

Don't you guys have this 'psycho-pass 2' feeling? It felt like that to me. Since, everything is cause by one person, but that one person isn't just one. Massive murder, massive suicide, certainly interesting but somewhat creepy that I can't wait for more!! ![]() |

What if she Poisoned them with the Drug called Flakka or something similar to it? One Sniff of Flakka and you're basically a Zombie under someone else's control. Interesting episode. A cliffhanger that worked really well with the pre-existing plot in order to craft the concept of the world. ![]() |
