No, the events in the movie happen after the events in the 2nd series so if you haven't seen the movie and aren't in a hurry waiting until after you see the 2nd series will make the movie more understandable.

The design on the released artwork is different from the TV series but it's similar to some other PR material and Manga art for the series. The production company for the 2nd TV series is the same as for the movie, which used a similar style to the first series so I'd guess the second series design will be closer to the first TV series than to the currently released PR artwork.

Well by the time this airs it would have been 6 years since season 1 aired. If season 2 succeeds then they may continue it.

It would be nice if they did but the light novel series is wrapping up soon so they probably can't wait a lot longer. That said, the manga serialization, including 2 spinoffs, and a light novel spinoff is ongoing so there's clearly some momentum.

I'm with you there, I loved that arc. The drama to fighting ratio is a lot higher though so it's probably more of a series fan favorite than it would be a mainstream audience favorite.

I'm always impressed to find people who are series fans who read the novels in translation. The original material is so much better than the translation makes it seem. I guess it's a testament to the strength of the concept that people love it even when it isn't well presented.

Technically it does take place between season 1 and the movie but, considering the movie is anime original, this new season may or may not acknowledge what happened in the latter. It's adapting the (chronologically) next arc after Yokohama Disturbance.
