Next Promising Basketball Anime since Slam Dunk

I love the first episode and I'm expecting so much more to happen.

(Kuroko what? I haven't watched that)

It's a super power anime, not basketball.

Super Power is much better

Kuroko's first season was meh, but the seasons that came after were good and entertaining. it's no Slam Dunk by all means, but if you like shonen and basketball then it might be your cup of tea.
Now about Ashiru no Sora, even if the first episode had some potential, I think future episodes will show sign if it will be promising. For me too quick too tell, seeing it has some Kuroko elements that I don't want to experience again.

not basketball.

Ok, Kuroko no Basket is not about basketball. They just called it added "basket" in the name for fun.

I haven't read Slam Dunk in a long time, but it definitely has some similar elements besides focusing on basketball. Hopefully it ends up being a fun ride.

Kuroko is good for people who enjoy super power in sports. Slam Dunk and Ahira no Sora are better than KnB purely basketball wise.

Damn, I just loved this first episode. Just based on this first episode, is Slam Dunk recommended? I passed it by for some reason.

Some people saying "Ahiru no Sora" is the next Kuroko no Basket.

LMAO

Slam Dunk is way way better and more realistic.

Kuroko no Basket is more like a super power anime (not the typical basketball anime)
It's just a super power anime that's put into basketball.

Low quality bait but I'll take it just to beg you to do yourself a favor and go read Slam Dunk right now. No need to thank me or anything.

We're talking about the next real basketball thing next to Slam Dunk.

Slam dunk is frustrating, slow and dated. I watched half of it and it was like it was an anime to teach a toddler that never saw basketball how to play. It was funny, but it felt samey the whole time.

Kuroko was pretty awesome and it only got more exciting as it continued. No one ever really has a good knock against it other than it being unrealistic, which isn't a negative at all. And it's pretty realistic, just exaggerated for the generation of miracles.

So far this seems to be a good medium between the two, retaining the realism and "delinquent's coming together" plot that the Slam Dunk snobs like while also having a bit of excitement and underdog plot that Kuroko had. Again, it's pretty early to tell if all of that's true, but it does seem at least good.

I love it! It reminds me of Slam Dunk and Ippo. And 50 episodes? Freaking crazy! This is going to be my comfort show for a while.

It's not normal when it doesn't have a super power tag

After being on the wiki, it is disheartening to see Madoka and Momoharu. If what is said on the wiki is true, this anime would be not as enjoyable.

I enjoyed watching Slam Dunk when I was a kid. When I tried watching it again a few years ago, the show was unbearable to me. That's even before I started watching Kuroko. I get it that people are nostalgic about SD, and the show certainly has its charms and strengths, but it also has serious flaws. Dated animation (can't fault it for that though). Too many Mitsui flashbacks. Running jokes get annoying and repetitive (I'm a genius, unbelievable, Rukawa's fangirls) after a while. Matches take way too long (the Ryonan match took 18 episodes and people complain about KnB's matches being too long). And it's not like the length is justified. Too often very little happens in an episode (remember the Sakuragi free throw?). Too much focus on Sakuragi's antics (his continued grudge with Rukawa and constant mouthing off to opposition players) that end up destroying the flow of games. Finally the best match of the manga was left out entirely and we are left with an anticlimactic ending. Realism doesn't cover up all the problems the show has. And realism isn't the end all and be all of sports anime.

I was quite hesitant to watch this, but I'm glad I started I did. I'm enjoying the show so far, and I feel it's going to be more amazing.
