The 12th and final episode of the second Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) season ended with a third season and a new original video anime announcement on Saturday. The new anime season is scheduled for a Summer 2020 premiere, and the original video episode will debut on January 29, 2020.

Voice actress Rina Hidaka (Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka?, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) will join the cast as the character Wiene.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka, also known by its short name DanMachi, adapts Fujino Omori's adventure fantasy light novel of the same title, which he originally submitted for the 4th GA Bunko Award in 2012 and received a publication offer. SB Creative began printing the novel with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda in January 2013 and shipped the 15th volume on June 15. DanMachi has a cumulative 12 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Kunieda launched a manga adaptation in Young Gangan in August 2013. Taisei Yagami took over as the manga artist beginning with the magazine's 18th issue on September 6. Square Enix published the tenth volume in June 2018.

The first anime season aired in 13 episodes in Spring 2015. The second season premiered on July 13. Crunchyroll simulcast the second season, while HIDIVE streamed an English dub. The light novel also inspired the Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka: Orion no Ya anime film, which opened in theaters in Japan on February 15.

J.C.Staff also produced a 12-episode television anime of Omori and illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura's Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria side-story novel in Spring 2017, adapting the first four volumes. SB Creative published the 12th volume on July 13. Square Enix shipped the 14th compiled volume of Takashi Yagi's manga adaptation on July 12.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released the first season and the Sword Oratoria side-story anime on Blu-ray and DVD in March 2017 and May 2018, respectively. The company also screened the Orion no Ya anime film in the United States theaters on July 23, and will ship it on Blu-ray and DVD on October 22.

Yen Press licensed the original light novel and the Sword Oratoria side-story novel, as well as their respective manga adaptations in English in 2014 and 2015. The 13th light novel volume and the ninth Sword Oratoria novel volume went on sale on March 19 and June 18. The tenth manga volume and the eighth Sword Oratoria manga volume shipped on January 22 and August 6, respectively.

Good to see the Dungeons back! Here's to hoping Season 3 will be more like Season 1, as such. Summer 2020 is quite some time away though, I wonder if there's chances of this being a 2-cour season.

Pretty sure the OVA will just be another fanservice episode but I've got no problems with that whatsoever, so definitely going to give that a shot too.

Edit: Looks like Rina Hidaka will be Voice Acting the role of "Wiene", a Character which will be further introduced in S3.

Have not seen the last episode yet but this season was quite a letdown, nevertheless that poster makes a pretty convincing argument to not drop the series.

Nice! I lost interest in DanMachi while waiting for S2, but after watching it and despite it feeling considetrably different than S1, I really want more.

Well, that's some pretty good news because even though season 2 was a disappointment season 3 won't be as it is going to cover best vol of the series and people who are complaining that there aren't enough dungeons in season 2 get ready because 3rd season is basically all dungeon.

I liked both seasons and i don't know why people keep stuck in the past wishing another S1, just go watch it again... thrills for the next story, peace.

I hope they do a better job when adapting the next arc. Haruhime Arc was ok, Apollo War Game was bad and they just destroyed the Rakia Arc.

While S1 was rushed too, it did a better job.

Yup, i saw this in a video, and i am glad that the pacing of this season was slower, so that they won't butcher the next arc, even tho idk what is going to happen, i've heard that it's gonna be one of the best in the series.

This news isn't surprising. At least the wait won't be as long compared to the wait between S1 and S2.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

Lot of great anime? Where is it? Most of those are just mainstream things... and you forget the best anime of the next year... 3rd Season of Oregairu.

Oh yeah sure, I mean, for peoples that can't read novels for whichever reason, that can be good I guess?
But after seeing how much they've butchered this franchise twice in a row (Sword Oratoria and danmachi season 2, and the last arc of season 1 was pretty badly adapted as well so the trend has been going on for a while), I have serious doubt about it giving anything good; so anyone who can read novels and is interested in danmachi should probably go to their local bookstore, or to bookdepository.com instead.

A 3rd season just after the not-so-good season 2. Is it really worth it?

Atleast i have my own taste and not a mindless sheep who follow the other peoples. There is few anime in that list that maybe good. (Hataraku Saibou and Made in Abyss probably good one) But almost the half of the list is isekais. Or atleast the 1/3 is it.

I watch anything that I find entertaining. Don't care if it mainstream or whatever along as I enjoy it.

95% of romantic comedy anime I tried to watch are boring and I dropped them after few episodes. The comedy is not too funny. Romantic comedy is by far worst genre for me .

I can tell from your list that your taste is totally different that mine. Joshikousei no Mudazukai 9/10 ?? LOL.

Best comedy anime of this year. Btw Oregairu is not a simple comedy. It's more like a psychology drama.

But atleast i don't give 9/10 for gay anime (and don't even watch).
And you give 8/10 to Koe de Oshigoto! The Animation. and Asa made Jugyou Chu! now that was criminal.

Woooooo! No more waiting 5 years! I’m guessing they waited until the manga advanced far enough so they could adapt multiple seasons.

Well, I’m all up for more Danmachi. S2 did its job, though not as good as S1. And hey, JC Staff, maybe consider an adaptation of Episode Ryuu?

I'm just hoping season 3 get a studio change and not done by the terrible terrible J.c Staff.
They call certain methods of fighting good and others evil,
acting as if there were some nobility to the battlefield.
Such illusions, perpetrated by heroes throughout history,
have led countless young men to their bloody deaths,
all for the sake of this valor and glory.

I'm pretty excited for the third season, especially since we don't have to wait another 4 years. The second season was a bit disappointing but I still haven't given up hope on this anime. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the JC Staff will redeem themselves.

Almost everyone here is hating on it but I’m just happy I get to watch more. That’s what shows are about, entertainment. As long as it’s entertaining to you, go ahead and watch it :).
