| Recently I came across a post in reddit where this guy talks about how anime means so much to him and that it is an integral part of his life. Another comment said that watching anime is the only way he can feel emotions and how he is emotionally withdrawn from the real world (possibly due to trust issues ). Makes me wonder how many people are rather passionate about watching japanese cartoons and see it more than just a way to kill time. So what about you, if someone came and offered you 500k to quit anime would you do it ? |

| After a solid 5 minutes’ soul-searching I’ve determined that I would definitely take the money (I would live in a trailer and be set for years!) and also that I would regret it pretty quickly. Probably within a month or two. |
If I Were this Guy I'll Stop Watching Anime And Take This Money and then invest the money for my future needs, because there are still lots of fun to enjoy besides anime. |

I would pay off debts.Build me a workshop with wood working and forging tools and equipment and help my family and friends out. I would still get to watch western cartoons. |

I do like anime very much, but I've only seen a lot of it because I've been watching it for 20 years, not because I watch a ton on a daily basis. On an average day, I might watch 2-4 episodes, and very rarely more than that. I could definitely find something else to do with that time if I needed to. And as much as I love anime, I'd love a financially comfortable life even more. I know exactly how I would invest that money to make it last a lifetime, going into the same business my mom's been in for 20 years. I have the knowledge I need, and I live in the right market. If I had the start up money, I'd be set. She started with a tiny fraction of 500K and had to learn the business from scratch, so I could only imagine how much farther I could go with such a huge head start. If all I'd have to do is give up anime for that, I'd be more than willing. |

| 500k wouldn't be enough. It's asking to give up a nearly free form of entertainment for only like 1/3rd of the money a person would generally make in their lifetime. So if I had to predominately switch to another major hobby the money would likely not be able to cover the length of time I would need. |
| Nah, I wouldn't. Anime can entertain me for X amount of time While 500k if I lived stingy would only last a short while in comparison I like anime way too much to give it up like that. |

Averages usually shift based on education level, 1.5 mil I just used since that's like an average high school graduate with no college. 4 years of college by comparison 500k would only be like 1/5th of the lifetime average. Either way yeah 500k is nowhere near "drop out of school and quit your job" levels of money. At best a person could pay off their debts and not have to worry about retirement but they'll still be working most of their life. So giving up about as close to free entertainment as a person could get is just not worth it. |

Do you know how many good games come from Japan? Anyway to answer the question. A simple no really suffices. 500k really isn't as much as you think. Most people here saying they would take it would use it extremely quickly and go back to their normal life now without anime. Seems like a greedy and dumb thing to do. |

| Absolutely not. But I'm pretty comfortable so not saying much. That said, I'm 99% sure even if I was working full-time living paycheck to paycheck I wouldn't give up anime. It is my life in many ways. And I'm proud of that. I pity people that don't have a passion - something that gives their lives meaning. For most it's their partner and eventually children. But for me it's the of art of Japanese animated storytelling. I get to live all kinds of wild, interesting, eomtionally engaging lives vicariously thanks to hard work of other passionate people. Wouldn't give it up for anything. |

I don't see why you would even ask that lol, of course I do. Western* video games is what I meant. I'm just trying to determine what OP really means since he keeps adding in other things besides anime. If he's saying 500k to have no hobbies the rest of your life, I would say no. To stop with any Japanese media, it would be really hard but 500k is a lot, I would probably do it. |

| Nope. I'm financially stable and never live above my means. Of course that'd money would be nice but its not worth it to me. Between sports seasons I need stuff to watch. It's harder for me to like and to get into non anime related shows. I need my anime.. What else would I do..? Go interact with people? LOL. |
