I'm confused ;_;

Me, too.

That bit in the house has me beyond lost.

At least there is some good news as per today:
>>> The "Nakanohito Genome [Jikkyouchuu]" anime series will receive a new unaired episode. Details will be announced at a later date.

But yeah, it's just one unaired episode... That will not answer all of these questions.

You're right. At least it's something.

Sometimes I call animes like this adverts for the manga.

After 12 episodes, The Ones Within comes to an end. This episode went all out with the gaming references, like casinos and Mario. The comedy was at an all-time high, which is ironic when you realize that the stakes on this episode are actually kinda low. That's not necessarily a bad thing; the last few episodes have been very heavy on drama and character development, a funny, relaxing episode has a nice change of pace.

Still, I gotta ask: what's up with that scene in the Iride household. Are those adults Akatsuki's parents? I don't keep up with the manga, so someone's gonna have to explain that to me. That's weird note to end the series on.

Anyway, not sure if you have heard yet, but The Ones Within is getting an additional episode with some collaboration with the manga's author. Great news, because I really enjoyed this show and I was disappointed that it largely flew under the radar for this season. I really hope we get another season, because this show was amazing and I totally recommend it.

I think it is all on Sliver Link for picking up a manga that is still publishing and hasn't even hit 50 chapters. They kind of handcuff themselves. I wish studios would stop doing this.

Ok that makes sense. I agree. There are so many from the last couple of decades that I wish would get a do over so they'd be completed.

Fun episode, I hope there will be more episodes. I would like to see how will they escape, how will the other see the undergound people from white room, and what is the story of the game. This was entertaining but I don't see anything amazing about the story, and the characters were nice. Nothing interesting happened other than the white room, they were just playing games the whole time and I don't think the story progressed at all.

pretty average show. Randomness everywhere and many questions without answers.

easy 5/10... no... 4

As an anime a show that had some mildly well designed characters, some originality and not much else. Flashes of brilliance in the editing(mostly centered in the first half) but on a whole a disorganised mess that staggered home. Apparently has some more content-backstory and world building- in the manga outside of the 'game' which is fairly watchable but a cursory read didn't really pique my interest and most importantly it barely even exists in the anime. 2-3/10. At least Karirin was cute, I guess.

Quoting you because your post is very close to what I want to say.

Character designs and the bold directing decisions were the best things about the show. But there were too many times where the production was kind of messy. Pacing issues, use of insert songs at odd times. I liked the attempt to be creative and mix up the tones, but there was a certain lack of cohesion about it all.

There was tons of potential here with an interesting premise and ensemble cast, but premise alone doesn't make for a good story and the anime was a huge miss when it comes to delivering on that.

Personal enjoyment: 2/5 (there were many times when I was genuinely bored, but I only once considered dropping it)
Production quality: 2/5 (bold directing and art, but very sloppy execution)
Story / Character depth: 3/5 (characters had varied and interesting personalities, and their interactions had decent emotional depth, plot had intrigue but zero delivery)

4/10 overall for me. With my system this represent a "weak" anime. Not "bad", but only slightly above "uninspired".

The bonus stage was nice, Makino really came through with his luck. Speaking of the bastard, I still don't get who was Sumire to him? Was it his girl or what? I'm really interested.

I felt the Iride saving saga was super rushed and didn't carry any thrill at all, unlike the others. Oh well, I guess they were eager to end the show.

Overall this was a nice watch. At first it tried to complicate itself with the unnecessary drama and mystery, but it later ditched that and became just a group of people playing games and saving each other. It also later ditched the survival word to its name and became so light like a plastic container, like they seemed lax of their situation and weren't really desperate to leave the game. Most importantly there wasn't any death or exciting gory stuff, the series only cared about setting its own standard at its own pace. I like that about a series, being itself and not conform to any predetermined standards even if genetic fools throw criticism over it.

Would've liked to have continued with stage ten though!

Well.. Isn't that just it? They're not really in a rush to leave the game at all. They all seem to have their own reasons to not want to go back asap. For instance. Oshigiri with finding his twin sis, Onigasaki with running away from him family and Makino running away from his lonely life.

I don't get why the rating for this anime is what it is. I enjoyed it and gave it a 10/10. I watched cause it seemed interesting but stayed for the pure comedy and really loveable characters. Don't know about sub but I watched the dub and the actors were great. I'm hyped for season 2.

OMG I LOOOVE THIS ANIME

THIS WAS SOO MUCH BETTER than most other dark animes. I LOVE fucked up game animes like this. so mcuh so I actually have quite a few manga of this "genre" so it soooo refreshing to see something liek this.

but THEY NEED A SEASON 2 I mean seriiously they NEEEED to finish this! Dont let it end up like Highschool of the Dead or No Game No Life!

A complete and utter effing snoozefest 3/10

Show would've been good with a ton of RoromoRide

The rest of the characters are just boring and forgettable, the plot has almost zero to nothing progression, it's random every episode it's almost episodic

A rpg/arcade type of bonus stage to end this season, still a lot of questions left open. Can't wait for a next season if there will be any
Quite enjoyed this anime, really reminded me of Danganronpa in the way of them being held hostage by some weird person using a certain animal as icon and the way they have different 'games'.
One thing I didn't really found fitting in was the fact that they were all streamers, but that wasn't really shown anywhere outside of what they were good at, they could have easily been people who specialised in certain things or who were the best in certain things.

Actually, in the manga they explicitly say that a big part of what made these characters get selected for the game was that they didn't have much of an attachment to the "real world". Every. Single. One of them.

I enjoyed it. It was a decent show. Not great but not as bad as the ratings suggested. It kind of reminded me of Danganronpa. It wasn't as serious as I expect initially but still somewhat fun and interesting. Hope this gets a season 2 so we get to know more about mystery behind the games, Paka, Iride, Yuzu, 13th avenue etc.

Feels like a waste of time watching this series. Too much mystery with ZERO story progression at all. Feels like danganronpa 2 where it'll be info dump at the end instead of a little revelation or at least some hint every now and then.

The OVA might give some answers but these 12 episodes can be easily summarized into a single paragraph.
Truth is absolute but human perception of truth is always relative.

unsure if this is going to get a season 2; it's about 4 years after its initial release

anyways, the show is decent. it's best attribute is the mystery. like, wtf is "reallY" going on? we don't know

i don't care for the always happy mc and his stalker. though, there is ONE possible outcome where i could see it making sense. they speculated that stalker was older than everyone else given she graduated college and had a real job, etc. she'd probably have to at least be in her late 20's for this possible plot twist to work though

back to the interesting characters, they all seem like real people with real personalities and backstories. excluding the alpaca, that's part of the "wtf is really going on?" question i have

the individual games they have to do are alright, but not uber exciting. the 3 runaways/stowaways from previous "avenues" are also a pretty interesting storyline

another "wtf is that?" is the scene at the end of this episode with those people we've never seen before

overall, 6/10. it never really got any better than that and it never really got any worse. it was just a flat 6 all the way through. i would watch a season 2 just because i want to know how it ends/what it's purpose is/was

oh, also... the ones within, genome... wtf is that about?

(I DON'T WANT SPOILERS - EVEN IF SEASON 2 NEVER HAPPENS)

This show is consistently...a show that exists. Never a bad one, never quite a good one, one that gives me feelings sometimes and impresses me others but never enough to really get me to love it. It's so...something. It's something, and it deserves to be something, but that's all it is.

Kinda lacking for a final episode.
You all need to watch Nami.
