Being a music lover, I love to watch movies based on this.I been wondering if there's any good anime out there based on this topic except Detroit Metal City?

I'd recommend Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon). It has a really good jazz soundtrack. Another one is Beck or Nana, but I haven't personally seen these, but others say those are good too.

I haven't really seen many of them tho but i've got another one that much likely is better than the proper i did mentioned, i'm talking about "Sakamichi no Apollon". It's a really good anime based on music that i'd recommend too.

There are so many music based anime around. There is Given, which is currently airing, as well as K-on! Hibike! Euphonium and Piano no Mori if you like classical music (also Nodame Cantabile, too little music for my taste plus I wasn't fond of the MCs.

Violinist of Hameln uniquely mixes classucal music with dark fantasy settings, though manga is much better. Most character names are based on musical instruments and music terms too

these arent movies but u may consider them
Nana is excellent and heart-wrenching

Macross F has a wide range of mixed genre, but music is the major theme of the series

Kono oto tomare has a lot of drama, but it's a gud series about japanese traditional string instrument

White Album 2 is more of drama romance with some focus on music

..or, Bang Dream for highschool girl band forming up with some drama

Nodame Cantabile - college-age students in a music conservatory. Romance.

The iDOLM@STER - a (relatively realistic, compared to ones with fantastical elements) look into the pop idol industry.

Sora no Woto / Sound of the Sky - features a military bugler at a remote outpost who has absolute pitch and is mentored by an older musician.

I'll toss out one idol anime, AKB0048. Successors to the actual AKB48 group stage guerrilla concerts across the galaxy in defiance of a ban on entertainment. Directed by Kawamori Shouji from a script by Okada Mari. All the numbers are famous songs from AKB48.

+Nodame
+Apollon

Carole & Tuesday is just okay in my book, but hardly the best of Watanabe Shinichiro's work. It doesn't have any moments that can hold a candle to this scene from his Apollon.

There's a music-oriented show airing this season called Given. I haven't watched it so I can't comment.

Kono Oto Tomare - really good, made me cry
Beck - also really good, made me play guitar
Given - its suggestive yaoi, it depends on you, but its good
Fukumenkei Noise - really good
K-on - also good
Fuuka - it was ok
