| 1. Unique, not something you'd ever have to worry about other people taking. 2. Easy to remember, something short but that still stick in your head. 3. Clever, has an amusing origin or meaning. I'd argue mine falls under those three but unfortunately it breaks the secret forth rule of not being cringe. If somebody I know finds out I have a YouTube Channel and asks what it is I hate having to say my Channel's name lol I feel like such a weeb but when I hit 100K and got the award with Kyotosomo written on it, became too late to switch. Came up with the name back in like 5th grade back when all the kids at school thought Japan was cool because all the best toys and games were coming from there (Pokemon, Beyblade, Bakugon, Yugioh, Digimon, etc) so I tried to come up with a Japanese name (Kyoto came to mind first even though it's a city lol) and I also added wanted to add the honorific for someone of great respect (like a president or CEO or whatever) but I thought it was somo when it's actually sama haha. |
| I think a good username should be somewhat memorable and catchy. DiscoDespot has a nice flow to it, both words start with the same syllable and have the same vowel count, but it is somewhat memorable because it combines two words not usually associated with eachother. Bonus points if the username has some tie to the user's personality or taste. The only meaning behind my name is that some co-worker used to call me the dictator since I wouldn't let him listen to his terrible music in my car. (Lanadelray and Lourde, puke.) Edit: I am also a big fan of disco, so theres that too..... |

| My personal preference is something simple with no numbers and no weird spaces or underscores, usually only one word as well. The only problem is that most of those usernames are already taken on every site/game/whatever. |

| I don't like numbers in them, also capitalizing makes usernames more aesthetically pleasing to me. Other than that, I think any username can become a good (or bad) one if the user is somehow notable on the forum or website. Also, @Yarub can elaborate on this more thanks to our discussions on the subject, but just mashing a random edgy adjective and an equally edgy random noun together is just cringetown to the max. |

| It should be creative, have a pun or two, say something about your interests or attitude and be easy to remember. For instance, jal90 is a thoughtful parody of the evil supercomputer from 2001: A space Odyssey, which aligns with my tastes and love for cinema, which works as a pun and is a perfect reference for a nickname that only exists in the virtual world. Similarly, "jal" is an acronym of my tastes in fiction. J stands for "jokes", because I like comedy, A for "anime", which should be obvious since I'm here, and L for "life", because I'm a slice of life fan. If you are clever enough you may have noticed that Jal sounds similar to MAL, and it's of course an intended parody. |

| I think you have a good username if it's recognizable in some way to others or it has some meaning to you. For example I wanted the username Kuki, since that's what all my family, cousins and gf etc. call me, but it was taken so I had to do with aKukiz. |
