The special stage panel of Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (The Rising of the Shield Hero) at the Crunchyroll Expo convention announced both a second and third season for the anime series on Sunday. The official website also unveiled a new key visual (pictured above).

Voice actress Sarah Emi Bridcutt, opening theme performers MADKID, character designer and animator Masahiro Suwa, producer Junichirou Tamura, and music composer Kevin Penkin attended the panel.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari adapts Yusagi Aneko's adventure fantasy light novel of the same title, which originally launched on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2012. Kadokawa began publishing the novel with illustrations by Seira Minami the following August. The novel reached a cumulative circulation of 7.8 million copies with the release of the 22nd volume on June 25.

Kyu Aiya began serializing a manga adaptation in Comic Flapper in February 2014. Kadokawa shipped the 13th volume on April 23, with the 14th volume planned for a September 21 release.

The first anime season produced by Kinema Citrus aired in two cours between Winter and Summer 2019, covering the first five volumes and the beginning of the sixth volume. Crunchyroll—who participated in the anime's production committee—simulcast the show with subtitles. Funimation subsequently streamed an English dub.

One Peace Books licensed both the light novel and manga in English in 2015. The 13th light novel volume and the 11th manga volume shipped on December 18 last year and May 28, respectively.

If they adapt the ending of a certain character I would give it a 10/10. IDK if I can watch 25 more episodes of this but it is interesting to see another season of shield

The announced 2 more seasons but I doubt that any of them would be 24-episode long.
I don't know why they decided this but our shieldbro was not that popular in Japan.

Well, there goes one of my favorite fights in the light novel right down the toilet. And Best Girl Sadeena, too. At least a certain controversy will come up again, which'll make episode discussion fun to read!

And also, better that this happens to Shield Bro than DanMachi. Please stay pure, Wiene!

More of my favourite Isekai anime? Hell yeah. Bring it on. This is truly the era of sequels.
Animes with decent 1st seasons getting sequels.

I expected the second season to be announced this year but not the 3rd season as well.

Perhaps a 2x12/13 episodes this time.

It seems popular in China. Source is from Bilibili.

Assuming google translate is correct here, it seems to be the 2nd most viewed anime this year in China with 150 million viewership? Not sure about it's popularity in Crunchy Roll. I drop this anime at episode 8,maybe I should consider watch it again.

Didn't particularly enjoy the first season, but I'm not surprised with this announcement given the popularity of the series. Good for the fans, I guess.

Hell yes, more of this garbage. I even dropped season 1 at some point, but then picked it back up and somehow ended up loving it.

I don't expect much given how they treated the first season. I guess they are going to be one cour each season this time.

Next expect they will announce 2 seasons, but anyway I didn't like how they way ended the Naofumi accusation situation (I heard it's lot different from the light novel).

Hope this time they won't change much stuff.

I still need to finish season 1, I stopped watching after a short while. Interesting though to see 2 more seasons announced at the same time.
I'm no special story or anything. I'm just a manga that wants to be read, like you could find anywhere. But, if, for argument's sake, you were to adapt me into an anime series, it would certainly be....a tragedy.

This. The disc sales is not great and I don't think the source material got a huge boost from anime. I wonder if this proves that international streaming and popularity could actually bring money to anime production.

All I know about this it's that it triggered people because it had a feminist as the main villain, I wonder if they will be still lurk around for both seasons or if they will use their time on something more of their like. Probably the later seeing how this site works.

Maybe I will watch this.

I wish I ended up liking this. The first few episodes were so fudging good, but after getting to like episode 6 I decided to drop it as it fell so far. Oh well.

Booooo trash series for people with trash taste but a rather commendable tolerance for stupidity.
Mirai Nikki is TRASH
Angel Beats is horrible.
Charlotte is a dumpster fire.
Shinsekai Yori has no characters.
Oreimo's S2 specials don't actually exist.

IM NOT AN ELITIST

I live to see the day where Hidamari Sketch or Little Witch Academia get another season.

Excellent news.
While i was hoping for a second season having a third added as well was a nice bonus. I really enjoyed the first season and its nice to see that despite the amount of people that hate the series that the hard work performed by both the studio staff and the seiyuu's were able to break through them and create many fans both domestically and internationally.

Looking forward to seeing the trinity of Kaito Ishikawa, Asami Seto and Rina Hidaka return as Naofumi, Raphtalia and Filo and inspire us again in the future.

Unlike many people, I didn’t even enjoy the first arc all that much so naturally the show was pretty much average throughout its run in my opinion.

With that said however, I was thinking that maybe this series would get a 2nd Season announcement in like mid-2020 or so thanks to the ln+manga boosts, hence it’s definitely a surprise getting to know that both 2nd and 3rd Seasons are already in production phase as we speak! I wonder if this corresponds to a split-cour case though, will be interesting to know more about this in due time.

Last but not least, Congratulations to the fans of the franchise!

People acted more hyped since they announced 2 new seasons like that means more than just a simple announcement of two cours worth being produced. I miss the old days when they typically just called it the second season with 2 separated cours being part 1 and part 2.

Semantics I guess but this isn't anymore hype than just a simple new season announcement unless they tell us each "season" is 20+ episodes.

People are gonna get way OVER hyped since once again 2020 is the year of new anime and those we like don't credit and get left aside till probably 3-5 years of wait till eventually someone decides to watch'em.

Note to mods: Kevin Penkin himself was not present for the panel, but the music producer for the show, Hiromitsu Iijima, was.

Awesome news!

I was just thinking when they would announce the next season and then saw this!
And even season 3 is announced!
If they both gonna be 2 cours-long, then they most adapt the entire LN

Lol people call everything a harem where there are more than just 2 girls

"Hey that's the 3rd girl in the anime already, what a harem trash"

There's nothing wrong with hating it, I hate it myself, but people call many anime a harem that really isn't one

Multiple girls itself does not mean it's a harem
If out of those let's say 4 girls, 2-3 would have feelings for the MC and they would all act like teen girls, resulting in a cringy, extremely childish and extremely annoying fight for the D of the MC, that's a harem, and that's what I honestly hate

But many call even S;G a harem, so they clearly have no idea what it means

this is exactly what will happen later
more girls will fall for him like Atla

i wished for a naofumi x raphtalia ending without any bullshit polygamy
but that's not gonna happen

I personally don't really mind if they don't end up together

I've never considered this a romance anime, so I didn't have any expectations

But even if it turns into a harem, it can still be good
A harem can be executed well too

Like In another world with my smartphone
It's obviously not a liked anime, but I really liked it personally, and the harem part in it was actually done well, all the girls were getting along without any cringy fights among each other

The basically the only harem anime I've ever liked
If Shield Hero turns into one like that, I'll be happy to watch it

It was never in doubt. Shit’s huge in Akiba and the LN’s are some of the best selling here in Japan. I just hope they faithfully adapt the source material instead of skipping and changing so much like they did at the end of 1.

@-Aincrad- You confuse the harem as a genre and the harem as a plot device.

Honestly, I'm somewhat confused. For one thing, I liked this anime. On the other hand, I don’t really like how overhyped and mainstream it became after the decision to intentionally promote work across the USA.
Level of my english is still too poor, so ask not particularly angry because of my terrible grammar.
