I have a secret. I'm a an otaku that's obsessed with loli's. I haven't told anyone this before.. not even my parents or my close friends Steve and Jasmine.

How do you go about explaining your lolicon posters, bluerays, and action figures to your parents, family members and non-anime friends? I always take down everything and hide it in my closet or under my bed when company comes over.

It's fictional, but at the end of the day there's still what looks to be an 8 year old girl on my pillow case. How do I explain this to them without getting judged? I don't want to live in the dark anymore with my secret.

Tell them it's a "Sigmund Freud" phase.

:^^)

I get that lolicon is more about the aesthetic of cuteness rather than the character's age, but holy fuck is it a slippery slope. Just... burn it. All of it.

It's not even worth the effort trying to explain. Anime in general is hard to explain to anyone not familiar with it.

I mean, as long as the posters and action figures are not sexual and are leaning towards just being cute then I think you're fine. The body pillow is a no-go, obviously but just take off the case. However from the sounds of it, they are probably somewhat sexual so some may be a no-go too.

That or you can just embrace who you are and can start the new trend of coming out of the closest except instead of being gay you can just show that you are interested in 2D lolis.

i can't imagine having otaku-tier kinds of weeb stuff in my room let alone that.

Oh maybe, maybe it's the clothes we wear
The tasteless bracelets and the dye in our hair
Or maybe, maybe it's our nowhere towns or our nothing places
But we're trash, you and me
We're the litter on the breeze
We're the lovers on the streets
Just trash, me and you
It's in everything we do
It's in everything we do

YOU CANT explain why you love lolis. youre just gonna have to take that to the grave . even if you do find someone youre comfortable with telling and showing them your collection of stuff, theyll still judge you for it and honestly they may even stop speaking to you lmao.

Body pillow protectors are a thing. Basically it's just an outer zipper casing for it.

what i dont get is why do people feel the need to express their sexual fantasy/fetish in forms of merchandise?

Cant you just look whatever you want in your phone and masturbate and get over with it?

Just curious cuz i also have masturbated to VERY kinky stuff but i just dont feel the need to tell anybody about it or express it in anyway other than masturbating.

some hobbies are best kept secret. you wouldn't tell your parents what kind of porn magazines you read, so why would you tell them that you're a lolicon - and all that that entails.

It recently came up actually with some relatives of mine that I read "drawn child pornography comics" as I called it. They asked why: I said it was cute; some of them wanted to see what it was about so I showed it whereas others did not. That was all.

It is obvious that "obscenity" is not a term capable of exact legal definition; in the practice of the courts, it means "anything that shocks the magistrate".

If your hobby is sexualizing or fantasizing over 2D children, then don't expect open arms and acceptance. Explaining to someone that 'it's not real' or to any other extent that might sound convincing doesn't make it any less real that you're obsessed over obscene depictions of essentially kids.

In the wise words of every anon past, present and to be, hide your power level.

Why flaunt it if you're not that outgoing on a person in other areas of your life? I don't know you from Adam, but if that's the case where you're secretive and safeguarding your hobbies from others routinely like anime in general, then disclosing loli love as the first step to opening up more would probably be the worst choice.

As much as there is a lot of seemingly sagacious advice passed around about the freedom and relief of sharing and exposing yourself with everyone, surely it can't hurt to maintain some private side of your life and just express it in collectibles for personal viewing, a close circle of trusted friends IRL or online forums, immersing yourselves in videos and even the Pirate Bay type sites and the dark web. I think it's fine with that side of you being unreachable by most others rather than the unpleasantness of being screamed at and talked down to by people who probably wouldn't give a second's worth of effort to understand. People are judgmental and reactionary. Just tread carefully and don't have your optimism be misplaced and dashed against the rocks.

I don't really get the huge loli underground movement or the desire to stockpile merchandise, but it's nice to see it out there to bring others joy like a nubile Santa. Most folks won't think this way though.

Don't really have too much physical anime merch to begin with so I can't say I've ever really had to explain it to any normies IRL

I would keep it to myself, cartoon cp is not something you want people to know you for, even if people like me wouldn't care. Id say most people outside the anime community would be very weird about it and may even not want to talk to you anymore.

Throw in their faces the book Lolita by Nabokov (a man of true culture) and say: like this but it's fiction.

I had my father walk in on me watching that scene from kyoukai no kanata when they danced so they could kill that big eyed monster that poured smelly substance on them whenever they failed. It was like a complete minute of silence before he walked out. His thoughts were probably something like "Good lord i shouldn't have had kids". So i don't think it to be worth telling at all since we all know how they would react in the end.

I had my parents and friends come to my place and my anime/manga stuffs are just out in the open. That being said I don't really have that much loli merch, just Hitoribocchi manga's and 1 Shinobu (Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade) mini figure.
Most of my figurines are shonenish anyways (Goku/Mob/Pokemon/Gundam) so they find it more interesting when they see something that doesnt really reek boy stuffs, they don't really ask why I have it tho, if they do ask I'd just answer I find them adorable, that aside I dont own any body pillows or any kind of hardcore otaku shiz so I cant really say if I'd be open enough to just put them out whenever a visitor comes in.

If I would have to explain my love of lolis to normies I would simply say they are "Fun Size".

The difference between an adult, teen, and child character in anime is not nearly as defined as IRL since their facial structures are exactly the same (albeit bigger eyes) and personality/maturity is almost never relative to the character's age. Lolis are simply shorter and larger eyed version of their adult counterparts.

Also, with today's moe art style (that I fully support, cute is justice) its not uncommon for perfectly mature adult female characters to have loli characteristics (high-pitched voice, big eyes, etc.)

I guess you could describe it as being similar to how people find kittens cute, or puppies cute, they're idealistic, unadulterated iterations of themselves with aesthetic beauty. If others immediately see it as sexual then that's because they prejudge it as relating to pedophilia, though somehow that distinction isn't make between bestiality and cute animals.

Honestly it'd probably be too hard to reasonably explain to people, best to stick with the golden rule, if it doesn't harm others then it's fine. Just beware the slippy slopes.
