Consider this for example:- Re:Zero VR app lets you get a lap pillow from Emilia or Rem and even spend time with them. Now you may wonder who will even buy this? I sure will! But apart from me:- >people who've been NTR'ed by their real life bf/gf and thus have lost faith in humanity >people who got "Tomodachi desu" as a reply from their crush when they proposed to him/her >people who are desperate, perhaps? >And most importantly, people who admire and love their 2D waifu/husbando with passion I am sure this is just the start. Soon, we'll have other anime girls and boys too. So the question arises, what will be your choice? Stick to 3D women/men or finally embrace your 2D waifu/husbando in the 3D realm? |

I don't have a social/romantic life to begin with, but VR is something that I welcome. PSVR is a lot of fun, and this is only the beginning. By 2025, every young person will have a VR unit in their home, and I predict that depression and suicide rates will plummet, because people will be able to escape reality using VR, to go to their perfect fantasy world. This will be beneficial to everyone. |

I don't date and I don't care for VR. TVs and monitors have better colors and require lower resolutions, since the pixels aren't right in front of your eyes, meaning the games are less demanding. My brother's Oculus Rift still looks pixelated, despite having such a high resolution. I prefer third person over first person view anyway. VR is more for first person view. I'd rather sit down in front of a big TV or PC game with my head free or play my Switch while commuting or at work. Seiya said: Seems like that would just raise suicide levels. I mean, Japanese NEETs are always trying to escape reality, and that country has a high suicide rate. I don't have a social/romantic life to begin with, but VR is something that I welcome. I think I would need some kind of drugs to make me forget it's not real What would be interesting is if there was an augmented reality that made someone you're with appear as an anime character. which would ad touch making it more real as you perceive it. Of course this would not be a replacement in this application but just a new way to roleplay. |

No, physical intimacy is one of the most important things for me and I can't get it through VR. But let's look it on the bright side. For every young man who chooses VR over the real world a woman is left without a potential boyfriend/husband. In just a few years, there will be millions if not billions of free and thirsty women and just a handful of good men/women who can satisfy their needs. People will be able to literally choose between a wide variety of female partners. Polygamy may also become a thing as girls who are looking for a relationship may have no other choice but to share their partner with the fierce competition. The gene pool will also correct itself as the weak will succumb to VR and only the strongest will be left to pass their genes. It might be what mankind needs to reach the next level of its evolution and it doesn't require violence of some great sacrifice as the people who voluntarily trapped themselves in those virtual realities will also probably find a way to enjoy themselves. |

Not really, it isn't genocide, people will be free to choose and those who enjoy VR can still have a meaningful life (from a certain point of view) and have fun in their new world. As you said it will be beneficial for both sides. It is still a natural selection but far less cruel than its other forms. |

I don’t think it can replace the chemistry between two biological creatures. I’m not even talking about two humans. I doubt one can love a fictional dog more than a real one. One can escape and indulge in VR but It will never substitute reality for a person who experienced it. Theoderic said: If its something like sao then hell yeah. Yes, it is the future. I am going to sound like a weaboo loser in this post (which I am, but that's besides the point), but it is very clearly the way forward. VR right now obviously cannot replace real human relationships. However, in the future, VR/AR/simulations will be able to simulate reality so closely that you will not even be able to tell the difference. You will be able to feel physical touch and you can feel love - ultimately, these are just sensations activated by nodes and nerves in our brain, and theoretically, VR can activate those exact same nodes as well. VR will let you customize your love life in any possible way you want. You can make it as realistic as possible so that you actually have to woo your partner or he/she will reject you, or you can just have it so that the hottest anime girl or whatever automatically wants to date you. You can have a relationship without any of the issues that a real relationship has, or if you again prefer 'realism,' you can add in the chance of those problems occurring if you don't play your cards right, just as it is in the real world. VR will make it so that human relationships are a thing of the past. As for continuing the human race, this has nothing to do with VR. When this type of VR finally comes to the market, genetic engineering will probably be prevalent (it already exists even now), and the human race will be bred with genetically-modified sperm and eggs to create generations of smarter humans without needing any sort of actual marriage or relationship between two real humans. To be honest, two humans in a relationship being the sole way to create the next generation will most likely be out the door even before VR gets to this point. This is the future of society. Many will fear it and try to delay it because they cannot understand it, or because they think they will be losing touch with reality and relying on 'fake' relationships, but if it's advanced enough, VR/AR/simulations will be indistinguishable from the real thing, only better. HOWEVER - sorry to disappoint, but I highly doubt this will happen within our lifetimes. So everyone on MAL right now has to do things the hard way and find a real partner :) |

I own a PSVR, and I've experinced more than my share of VR porn, and I can say that in VR, when a girl sits on your lap, or leans in for a kiss, you're completely convinced that she's there in front of you. If it's already that good, imagine how much better it'll be in a decade? |

@Seiya the type of thing I am thinking of is so advanced that I have a hard time believing I will be able to see it, but AI and technology progress at an extremely fast rate, so maybe you are right. The biggest things that would delay this are legal restrictions due to safety concerns and moral outrage. |

@Orhunaa There might be some women who may fall prey to this VR plague, unfortunately. However women in general are far less susceptible than men when it comes to this. Also basic human biology, women start feeling an overwhelming urge to have children at some point, usually in their late 20s or early 30s. So no, we are safe, our girls won't give up their lives for this endless cycle of nihilistic degeneracy filled with individuals who are there because they were too afraid to speak to them in the first place. @HungryForQuality Well, I agree. Unfortunately, there are plenty of factors as you said. Some parts of my scenario are idealistic and exaggerated. |

@149597871 That is pure ideology. Reality itself isn't even something we directly experience but a virtual reality of our mind attempting to make sense of reality. Computers allow for the simulation of the mind's creations onto reality thus helping to shape part of our reality in an image as pleased. In case you weren't aware of the occult use of technology, chaos magic practitioners are known to use technology in magical practices. VR can serve as a powerful visualization tool to attempt to manifest things to the material world. Also there are more females than males in the world iirc and this trend of gender population gap will only widen in the future due to the fragility of the Y chromosome. While some may be cutting themselves short for some a real person is not what is desired in their life. |
