i wouldn’t call mushishi sad, though? it’s actually pretty wholesome most of the time, save for the few episodes with unhappy outcomes. i guess i can see why the atmosphere might make it feel depressing, but i found it relaxing and, well, atmospheric.

Hachimitsu to Clover (despite not being entirely sad, it has some heartbreaking moments. Also, one of the best sol/romance animes, imo)
