So I have watched 15 episodes of the anime and its been put on hold for now for at least I think 2 months. I felt that the story was great but the pacing is so slow. I dont know if its better for me now to just read the manga but I know Naoki Urasawa's works like 20th Century Boys are an amazing read.

That's a question that ultimately only you can answer...
I think the pacing for the manga can be slow as well, it is still the same story after all.
But with 18 Volumes its not a super long read (depending on your reading speed) so going with the manga might be a better idea (at least it worked out for me since 70+ epsiodes can be pretty intimidating).
Otherwise I dont think you have to feel bad about dropping it. That's just what happens sometimes.

If you haven't cared enough to go back in 2 months, it probably wasn't anything special to begin with.

Maybe. I made it decently far in the anime and manga but never continued either. So....you might have better luck than I.
