Froakie and Blaziken are the best since Froakie can get Protean and stab with multiple moves and Blaziken can get the hidden ability Speed Boost, not to mention his mega.

Torchic, Froakie, Charmander, and to an extent, Bulbasaur. Their final evolutions are rampant in online play for different reasons.

Fennekin is the cutest, but it has the shittiest evolutions. Treecko is the best overall. Grookey is super cute too.

You just didn't do the "nakama" route with your pikachu, that's why he's so weak.

Uhm, leaving competitive aside, Chimchar is the one with I've had the least amount of troubles during a playthrough (haven't played gen 6 onwards so Froakie might be better).

Bulbasaur is the goat though.

Objectively speaking, it's torchic. Blaziken has beastly attack stats and after one or two turns of using protect, it can outspeed most of the pokemons because of speed boost. Blaziken in it's mega form becomes beast on another level.

Mega venusaur is a beast because of thick fat but normal venusaur sucks.

Greninja has great attack and speed stats especially ash greninja but it has a lot of weaknesses as well. There are electric type pokemons that can outspeed ash greninja.

I love infernape and sceptile more tho, mostly because of their designs.

hate to go with the most generic pick, but i'd have to say charmander
got a lot of fond memories associated with playing fire red on my first handheld gaming console (the game boy advance), and i pretty much picked charmander as my starter every single time

In my opinion, Torchic. There's probably a better one but all Pokémon are situational. Torchic's hidden ability is Speed Boost (And it's Mega Blaziken's ability), for a Pokémon already fast that makes it a pretty good sweeper if you mega evolve to Blaziken and take Flare Blitz, Brave Bird, Low Kick and Protect, plus Blaziken is the most badass version of KFC you will ever see.

i always choose grass pokemon as my starter (bulbasaur, chikorita, treecko, turtwig, snivy and chespin). the best thing about grass pokemon is they get the moves to sap enemy HP early i.e. leech seed, absorb, -drain series moves, so you don't have to go back to PC often. and snivy is the best grass starter.

And it's also very effective against rock type pokemons.

Litten, or rather its final evolution, Incineroar. He has one of the coolest typings ever (fire/dark), a cool theme (heel wresler) going on, reminds me of Tom from Tom & Jerry who I absolutely used to love as a kid and has an amazing moveset (intimidate(!) as his HA, a strong exclusive move in Darkest Lariat, access to stuff like fake out, leech life and drain punch). He's also a bit of an underdog in the sense that a lot of people dislike him for being bipedal and looking too much like a fire/fighting type lol.

The rest of my top 5 would probably be Serperior, Primarina, Empoleon and Blastoise. Blaziken gets a honorable mention for having a cool mega evolution. I dislike his base form though.

given the anime logic, Pikachu would be the strongest pokemon in existence. at level 1, it defeat Brock's Onyx with thundershock even though rock types are supposed to be completely immune against it.

as for the actual thread, i generally prefer fire types. the only exception is mudkipz because who doesnt like mudkipz :p

I don't know about smogon tier list but I'm pretty sure priority > speed. Once they give primal kyogre aqua jet mega blaziken will be RU. Plain and simple.

But on a serious note it's the homie greninja.

Sceptile is easily my favorite starter Pokemon I ever raised and clearly one of the coolest Pokemon ever designed. But if you mean like most powerful like what's competitively the best, I'm no competitive player but if I recall right now it's Greninja, maybe Blaziken or Swampert (sorry Sceptile you're the coolest grass starter ever but you also had the bad luck of being paired with two other top tier starters).

Without Hidden Abilities, Infernape. With Hidden Abilities, Blaziken and Greninja. With mega evolution, Charizard

An HA Serperior is my personal favorite to use. Its capacity to kill things is ridiculous, even if there are a lot of mons it outright can't do anything against
