What are some good Yakuza anime? I'd prefer something a bit more serious and more "realistic" if you know what I mean.

Thanks

You're not gonna have a lot of luck with the "realistic" part...

Try Gungrave, that might work.

Yea well the realistic part is gonna be difficult, but i do know a few you might like.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/287/Grappler_Baki_TV?q=baki

Baki isn't an anime about yakusa, but one of the main characters is a yakusa boss, so you will get to watch some serious and realistic yakusa action. The anime is about fighting and martial arts, this is the first season.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/18897/Nisekoi

Nisekoi is a romance/comedy anime. It doesn't portray a serious picture of yakusa, but i think it is a realistic picture of them. its about two kids from different yakusa groups who are tasked with asked to pretend to date, in order to stop the fighting between those two groups.

Now this one is kind of serious, but not very realistic. The yakusa aspect is one of the main fokus points of this anime and it is kind of, hmm lets call it "strange", but you might like it, if you are into that type of comedy.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/1604/Katekyo_Hitman_Reborn

Okay so i am kind of cheating by recommending this one. its not about yakusa, but insted about the Italian mafia in japan (but close enough). its an action/comedy/daily life. the story is good, the fights are good and the comedy is okay, but it do take some time before it starts getting good, and there are a lot of filler episode spread out in this anime.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/2104/Seto_no_Hanayome

My Bride is a Mermaid, is most likely the most unserious and unrealistic of all the yakusa anime's i can recommend, but its also one of the funnies anime's i know (in my top 10 funnies anime's). just watch it and see if the comedy is something for you.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/934/Higurashi_no_Naku_Koro_ni

I might also mention this while i am at it. There is a yakusa group in this anime and they do play an important role, but the yakusa aspect isn't really a fokus point. Anyway Higurashi is a classic psychological horror masterpiece, but if you are going to watch it, then you also NEED to watch the second season, its a package deal.

I have listed those anime in order of those that fit your criteria best, from top to bottom, but those at the bottom are also very good, they just dont fit your criteria as well as the other ones. So if you like you should also give those a chance.

Anyway that's about it, i hope you will find something you like, and if you got any questions about any one of those i recommended, then fell free to ask me anytime you like.

Happy anime watching :)

The best yakuza story I've seen is the concluding arc of Black Lagoon Second Barrage called "Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise."
