THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
What's with this episode's setting? It feels like someting out of a fantasy anime or a video game.

Either way, I'm starting to feel like the show's stakes are getting higher with every episode. The typical comedy with the usual character chemistry still remains though. Also, the cliffhanger...maybe we're getting some Himiko background story?

Interesting episode. This time two players, Anya and Himiko, had to go inside a ruins and they have to be all honest.

Himiko said she killed her big brother :O

I like how the two got chosen to participate in this challenge and Anya speaking the truth, the tsundere he is.
Himiko killed her big brother, huh? I somehow get the feeling it was not intentional... right...? Right!?

Better than with the demons. And nice that Iride didn't get too much focus. I first thought the spy game boy would get to play - and hoped for shy girl wit him. Thy girl it was ... but with Anya then.

Wasn't surprised by the reveal at the end. I mean the game was focused on such a reveal. I bet the game master even sets up the pairings by manipulating the drawings. (With his magic/super powers.)

Since he helped against the demons a bit and seems mainly interested in keeping the game going (not in being super evil as main focus) and using the punishment only if it is to get them to play ...

I'll stay with my theory that this is something like that other anime where they were dead appearing in some other dimension/area not knowing they died. (Until it got revealed later.) And having to do certain tasks to overcome troubles from their past when they were alive. Stuff like that.

Spy boys sister breaks that theory, he went into this game willingly because his sister got kidnapped to it. Also the others aswell have there memories from before getting kidnapped, so they would know that they died. Also they are all lets players, would be weird that only they died.

In any case if it wasnt clear before, its definetly clear now that iride is hiding something big, for what purpose does he need all the genomes?

That is a good observation, that which nullifies said theory. As I see it, this is another Danganronp-ish (like Zanki-Zero seemed like magic, until... well, nanomachines) series with something really stupid going on behind the scenes, but with an actual moral residing in both social and philosophical context.

Having Himiko claim she murdered her brother is just another red herring in which she means in figuratively. Because she would be in prison then! (It is not how it worked in Zanki Zero, they did some bad stuff, actually).
Iride keeps being the most interesting of them. Is he just an affection maniac? That would be the best approach to the series... except it would literally not fit into the whole "game for views" narrative. He must know something and have a definite reason for collecting the Genome, wearing a mask to ensure his goal is successful.

Oh so, it's a kudou and inaba arc this time were they have to enter a pyramid and under no circumstance that they should lie, but unfortunately Anya isn't getting the memo , at first that is.

It's still possible that we don't know everything or that their memories are not working correctly. Now I don't know Danganronpa (dropped it or did not decide to watch it when it aired because of other/better stuff) but it would be weird if we here did not get a good background and reason as to why they are in the game.

They can't just bring out the "hey it was a big company that really wanted to stream rl people adventuring - just for fun" when already the game admin seems to have magic like powers and the demons were supernatural. Needs definitely more than 1 line info ant 1-2 minutes at the end of the last episodes. (If we ever get to the last episode of that plot ... when the manga is still not finished.)

I loved the interactions, wonder what's up with the whole brother killing thing, especially because Anya most likely thinks he killed his brother too (with the bike accident). So it was not pure luck he got paired with Himiko I guess.

pfft Himiko didn't kill anyone. Probably some accident she holds herself responsible for.

On another note I wonder why Iride isn't suited for that dungeon? IS IT BECAUSE HE'S A LIAR????

The Ones Within delivers yet another fine episode! Anya and Himiko, the unlikeliest pair of the group, must confess some of their deepest, darkest secrets so they can win the current stage. These secrets might change viewer perceptions on the characters, especially Himiko. The episode also does a fair bit of narrative progression, as Zakuro tries to get answers about his sister while he and Kaikoku talk about Akatsuki. Overall, this is proving to be a good series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Roromori and Iride ship needs to grow stronger!!! Althought Iride is clearly up to something.

Also when Roromori and Onigasaki passed each other in that restaurant something happened. Idk if she did something to Onigasaki or if there was a glitch in the system (because they showed Paka right afterwards) but something was wrong right there.

Literally. His all disguise would fall apart if he was sent into that dungeon. Which is why even Alpaca bent the rules to make it a lottery rather than a choice.

I would say you misunderstood the meaning of that scene. Onigasaki is hostile to Roromori after seeing her stalking obsession with Iride, and a poison crate she made for some reason. He is trying to subvert any of her plans and that scene when they are walking past each other symbolizes their hostility to each other.
ALTHOUGH, Onigasaki did feel something wrong after a while after they went past each other. She might have injected him with something as well.

The characters are quite interesting! I want to know more and more about them.

The slimy thing turned into Iride. lol. Plus, they actually brought it back with them!

Napping boy isn't as useless as he seems, I guess.

How did that flashbang work on the mummies that got their eyes covered in bandages, but didn't blind two of them even though they ran straight into it?
Yes, that is my biggest annoyance in this episode!
Actually, the whole flashbang gimmick is really damn annoying to me for some reason. It just makes me dislike the character.

Meh, I don't even know how to feel about this show. Its type of comedy just isn't working for me, and half of the ''logical'' solutions in the games and puzzles are complete nonsense. Like it has a problem of balancing funny and serious. It feels like way crappier version of Danganronpa.

To be honest that is exactly what Danganronpa was. Or any other Spike Chuunsoft game-series. It is true this one seems less... ambitious, but I believe the spirit of the aforementioned is there and that is the most important part. If that is right, flashbangs are a feature because there is some past trauma somehow intertwined with flash/bangs.

That 1-minute zoom out scene with insert song lol trash! Reminds me of YouTubers stretching their videos (when the video is finished) with a black screen to ensure the video is longer than 10 minutes.

Yeah could not understand that like at all. Dramatic effect? Don't think it works this way.

They cut to Paka-san as well because he felt a disturbance in "The force"

Mind listing at least two-three points that make this series plot fall into a "generic" category? I am sure everyone content with how it is revolving, the story, would be interested in some counterclaims. After all these are forums to discuss things.

So the game this time...is a fantasy-couple setting? Anya and Himiko are chosen this time for a 2-player co-op. Gender equality then for Anya, but that Iride-slime moment was good.

Oshigiri is fine after losing his cool against Onigasaki, but the suspicions are arising against Iride and Yuzu.

The final moment of the confession from Himiko...was just a shocker.

Never expected lord Freeza to have taken the form of a door, he really went downhill after dragon ball z....
