Do you mean ones that aired in Japan but are sung IN English?

I give it to X.U. from Owari No Seraph. I've never been so in love with a song of this type. xD

Then if you mean ones that were DUBBED into English by companies in the USA...

Tenchi Muyo (Universe)'s OP by far. Although the original Japanese band sang this version too so that's why it still sounds amazing. xD I actually PREFER it over the Japanese version.

You mean engurishu only or english songs sung by English/American people too?
Even though this anime let me down, Eden of the east's op Oasis - Falling down remains one fo my favorite.

Of course, the most famous Pokemon op theme goes in my mind first. Although , I don't watch dubs but I remember that airing when I was a kid.

Edit: If it is an English opening not from a dub, I like Mushishi's The Sore Feet Song.

My pick would have to be Lucy Rose's "Shiver"—the Mushishi Zoku Shou OP. It's stylistically very similar to music I already listen to on a regular basis, though. Beautiful voice, indie-folk vibes. I love it so much.

Country Roads by John Denver.

Everybody knows that. Best anime song of all time.

The best Japanese op is Yoko Hanna's rendition of Country Roads by John Denver.

As soon as I saw this thread's title, I was already getting Smile Bomb ready. You saved me the trouble, thanks!
But yeah, Smile Bomb is definitely my favorite English OP.

They did a really good job on it! I always kinda feel like some dubbed songs never added any of the English singer's feelings and personality, but music really needs that. When it comes to dubbed music, the singing needs that extra push. It's all cool if the lyrics translate word for word and flow well, but if the FEELING doesn't reach the new target audience then it's just not as impactful-- no good. Smile Bomb's English version added a certain soul to it that some other dubbed songs seemed to think they didn't need. The singer actually tried to make the song THEIRS, and that's what you're supposed to do with ANY song cover. You don't just sing it.

And you don't seem to understand
A shame you seemed an honest man
And all the fears you hold so dear
Will turn to whisper in your ear
And you know what they say might hurt you
And you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading
I have lost it all

And you don't seem the lying kind
A shame then I can read your mind
And all the things that I read there
Candle lit smile that we both share
and you know I don't mean to hurt you
But you know that it means so much
And you don't even feel a thing

I am falling, I am fading, I am drowning
Help me to breathe
I am hurting, I have lost it all
I am losing
Help me to breathe

Both Mushishi OP for sure, Sore Feet song gives off a different vibe in the full song ver. but it's fantastic in the TV ver. And there's a sample of "Shiver" posted above already!

The series is just a masterpiece.

Easily Kaiba:

I feel like the show isn't as talked about nowadays, it sort of fell through the cracks at the time apart from critics and Yuasa fans and this marvelous OP along with it, which is a damn shame. Beautiful, slow, and tranquil, like a lot of the show itself.

Serial Experiments Lain is a close second.

Mushishi is well known for its English intro and the ambient musical score of the show as a whole definitely adds to its atmosphere, but as a standalone piece the song doesn't stick with me.

Believe it or not some of the anime dubbed in English aimed for kids on WB Saturday mornings that had their OPs redone to keep it all in the same language actually ended up being pretty good, with the original Pokemon Indigo League one the most iconic and one of the best too. Filled with energy and gets you pumped for the show.

There's this band called Coldrain and two of their songs were used for Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin and King's Game. "We're Not Alone" and "Feed the Fire" are both great songs but I think I prefer the opening for Rainbow.

(Also, Coldrain is a Japanese band but all their songs are in English. It's not Engrish, but ENGLISH. Lol. Anyway, anyone who likes rock should really check out their other music. I recommend "Stay" and "Whole" for people who also enjoy slower songs and "Rescue Me", "Revolution", and "Envy" for songs similar to "We're Not Alone" in terms of intensity.)

The thread title really sounded like 'What's a better English anime op song than pokemon op?'

I don't know, I might come up with an answer but as for now no. 45 post in still no English song that I recognized. I guess it's because I personally prefer Japanese song.
