Manga author and illustrator Ai Morinaga died in the early morning on August 2 due to undisclosed health problems. Kodansha's monthly Bessatsu Friend announced the news yesterday with an obituary on their website expressing condolences and celebrating Morinaga's life (excerpt below):

We would like to express our deep appreciation to Morinaga-sensei for creating many wonderful works, and sincerely hope that her work will continue to be read for a long time.

May she rest in peace.

Morinaga's professional career began in 1993, and took off in 1996 when her manga Yamada Tarou Monogatari began serialization in monthly Asuka magazine. Her most popular works include Boku to Kanojo no XXX and Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Club, published in Comic Avarus and Bessatsu Friend, respectively. Her latest full-length work, Kirara no Hoshi, was also published in Bessatsu Friend and concluded in February 2015.

do not want it to be interpreted as overwork related illness?

Damn, if Google is right and she was only 38 then that makes it all the more sadder.

Reminds me that I've been meaning to read Boku to Kanojo no XXX for about 8 years now.

What a goddamn shame, Morinaga-sensei was way too young. May she rest in peace.

Rest in peace. Was she really 38? If so, she already had a serialized manga at 15 years old. Damn.

Those information are generally shared if the family of the person wants to, which here they obviously didn't.
