Don't know. They already announced 3rd year but didn’t say if It's a movie or a series

Considering what happened, and considering that the studio gave the money they got from worldwide solidarity to the families of victims (and good thing they did), i have no idea what their financial situation is. Or even if they have an animation staff ready.

KyoAni was very unic in many ways. I am talking about the business itself. This studio had mostly women working for them, which is very rare in Japan. This is because they built infrastructures to take care of the employees' children and stuff, and this was a pretty unic thing in Japan (no business there actually does that, and employers always ask their female employees to chose between work and having children). On top of that, they had their own employees rather than hiring freelance animators like most other studios do. And they had their own school to teach the next generations of animators that would work for them. This, again, was unic, because no one cares to teach the next generation of animators in Japan: animators are way too busy making the random seasonal LN adaptations. Which is why there are less and less animators there.

Considering how KyoAni used to work... It is extremely difficult to know where they will find the money to make everything run normally again. And this is without even considering what the surviving employees want to do. I, for one, would have a hard time coming back there to work. Even less so if i was covered with burns scars.

Will KyoAni really make a comeback? I have no idea. But i wish for it. What happened to them is the biggest catastrophe Japanese animation has ever seen i think. Personally, i believe KyoAni was the studio Japan needed to carry the future. Seeing how work ethics there don't evolve, even though the government made laws to allow for it... without the uniqueness of KyoAni's model to show the way... I am worried about the future.
