Alternatively, the MC isn't the strongest or the weakest member of the main cast.

I want more series with characters that start off without knowing their direction in life and gain a passion that they then thrive on. Anime in the vein of series like Beck, Baby Steps and Tsuritama. I guess this could be categorized as coming of age series to an extent.

To be honest i want to see this kind of tropes as well, but without aliens like tsuritama.

The comeback power-up. When the protagonist gets beaten up badly, and then gets their power-up to spectacularly destroy the enemy.

Yeah that's a perfect example of why people hate female tsunderes. I just want more like Revy, Suzuka, Rin, etc. I like their cold bitchy attitudes, and how they warm up to people over time.

uh huh. Like, what's the point of having the trope if the character itself is garbage and doesn't improve over the course of the story.

MCs that are the most interesting part of their shows. Like in Steins;Gate or Noragami.I want to watch a show just to see what the MC is up to. The more eccentric the better.

I want comedy anime to make light of subject matter that is generally considered taboo with themes revolving around violence, discrimination, disease and even sexuality. Today's comedy anime are too formulaic plus juvenile for my tastes (f**k that ecchi s**t!) and I want good deal of comedy anime to be along the line's with Metalocalypse's, Hellboy's (the comic book, not the kid-friendly movies from last decade) or even Deadpool's style of gallows humour. Weed out the basic anime tropes found on comedy anime and you may get an improved formula.

Couples that are equally badass and equally developed. Such as Sword Art Online (Asuna and Kirito), Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry (Ikki and Stella), Full Meta Panic! (Sousuke and Kaname), etc.
