Even though their mainstream society / culture is still messed up but in different ways than most other countries, this is a place which gave birth to a subculture as amazing as Otaku to exist. | I wouldn't betray my country for some anime BDs (as much as I love anime). If I honestly believed that what they do is evil I might do it on moral grounds, but that's about it. Generally I wouldn't want to betray the trust I have been given (politicians betraying trust of their voters is one of my biggest issues with current politics, I wouldn't want to be the same). |

And I think that in democratic society that should be essentially basic human, or better said citizen, right. Otherwise it's not a rule of majority. I would say that one line reveals more about your motivations than you can cover up with your economic arguments (which at least make some sense). But I don't think that empowerment itself is an issue. Current issue with birthrates is mostly caused due to lack of incentives to have babies compared to continuous working. Besides with economy as it is now, it's often impossible for single person to provide for a family either. I think that's having a lot more of an effect than empowerment. I don't really see how going backwards is in any way going to help our society. |
