| And once again, cought offguard, and laughing to tears. I had to replay quite a few times that Galactic Mermaid song 😂🤣😂 To be honnest, I started this anime having heard good things, but was not really attracted by the art style, and now I'm fully on board with all. Cybelle performance was also a great one. First I speak french, and while not being French, we saw a decent amount of MV's in the past with a chair as a main prop. I know it's not unique, but it fitted the "french" theme so nicely. Then the way it was performed had this little "Mylène Farmer" spirit, and that again was a nice touch. Anyway loved all the little details and references once again. That anime is a gem as far as it goes until now. |
| I kinda like GGK and Pyotr more than both Angela and Carol and Tuesday. GGK has a more unique sound and seems more creative. Angela song just kinda feels like something you would hear in a top 100 chart. |

| Not only is the Mermaid bit in this episode yet another piece of transphobia out of this show, but it doesn't even make sense in the story. We've already established these same judges watched the auditions and chose the top 8, so why would they even be surprised by the style of one of the groups they themselves selected? Not only is the joke tasteless, but apparently the writers felt it was so important to get it in that they ignored their own continuity to do yet another "haha aren't genderqueer people HILARIOUS???" F-ing BS is right. I like so many elements of this series, but there's this continuous underlying vein of mean spirited jokes towards trans/GNC people here that would be bad enough on their own, but tend to make the story worse strictly from a writing perspective as well. |
