Assassination Classroom gets pretty emotional near the second half of season 2.
Both seasons combined it has 47 episodes.

Maybe try, 3-gatsu no Lion, there are 2 seasons with 22 episode each (total of 44). I felt like there was a considerable amount of emotion in the series, and there is great character development for all the characters. Another one I would suggest is, Sakamichi no Apollon. There's only 12 episodes, so it's a quick watch. I feel like this anime also expresses emotions well and makes you feel for the characters.

I know you said no more than 50 episodes, but Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood would satisfy all your desires and it's 64 episodes.

I would recommend Your Lie in April. It made me, and most other people I know so emotional, it was fantastic. Me and a lot of my friends all gave it 10/10. It's relatively short, like 20 something eps.

I'd recommend Violet Evergarden. 13 episodes and one special.

If you watched No Game No Life before, then I would definitely recommend No Game No Life: Zero. But, if you want series, then Angel Beats! or Anohana.

This thread is perfect, as I'm looking for the same type of anime.

I'd say from what I remember that Michiko to Hatchin and Kemonozume definitely gave some type of emotions. It depends on which one you want. There's K-ON! and Nichijou, Tonari no Totoro and a lot of the Ghibli movies, which give off completely different feelings.

This week I discovered Death Parade which made me feel something akin to being on edge all the time. It's a psychological thriller and I'd say quite good at that.

As for myself, I can't wait for Chihayafuru season 3 to appear. That one is full on excitement and intense focus.

Also, if you want to watch tv shows, search for Wynonna Earp and Killing Eve. They both give off strong emotions. I'll let you know if I remember more.

Maybe you could give sports anime a try? The recent Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru is full of emotions, a few episodes made me cry. Ballroom e Youkoso is also a great choice. Cried too. Very thrilling.

(This is a bit older so apologies for the bump)

If you like emotional anime, one I could recommend would be Glass no Kamen (Glass Mask)

It's a drama/shoujo anime that's about acting, and focuses on the growth of two girls from different backgrounds in their acting careers. It runs at 51 episodes :)

Emotional anime is one of my favorite types. For me the best of this genre are easily "Your Lie in April," "3-Gatsu no Lion," "Anohana," "Angel Bits," "A place furder than the universe," "Made in Abyss(The last 2 episodes are extremely emotional)" and "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju."

Bonus: There is a manga called "Oyasumi Punpun," very emotional and really good, if you want a good manga to read give it a go
