I really liked all the Erwin scenes. Things are heating up, I'm glad Eren was able to handle Reiner just fine. Those thunder spears are quite useful.

That cliffhanger was good, can't wait for the next episode. I feel like given the s3 credit scene some of the plans will be foiled so I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop or something

Reiner transformed into titan and climbed the wall, but Eren transformed into titan (reinforced fists) and ran into Shinganshina, Reiner followed him and started a one to one battle. Erwin localized a titan with merchandise that could be key. Smallest titans started to run to the horses. Erwin sent a group to protect the horses, defeat the titans and Levy to especially go for the beast titan; also he sent a group to support Eren against Reiner. Hange prepared a especial weapon against armor and the soldiers started to attack Reiner with spears.

Great episode, details in Reiner transformation and Erwin's plan are the kind of things that make this anime so wonderful, excellent execution and animation, also OST is great. Reiner is in big problems, but Bertolt is about to appear too.

I think the episode was lacking. The first episode used the OST very well with dramatic and hype tracks, this episode didn’t have the same energy in my opinion, the Eren vs Reiner felt sloppy. What saved the episode in my opinion was Erwin and his backstory/thoughts, that was really interesting.
On to the next episode!

You might be misunderstanding that the story has finally revealed its true self, and spoiler alert back to the previous season it is not about sick titan fights and violence. Okay, they put epic fight music into their fight. Then it gets louder when the scouts with spears come in. And then Reiner is like "I don't want to die" while the music is still epic. But the thing is, they know they are trying to finish off their former friend. So there is REALLY nothing epic about it, and even producers high-light the moral conflict and tragedy of it by not making the moment a YOU SAY RUN or something.

The eren vs reiner round 2 plus the thunder spears scene was pumped.

As usual episode felt short when watching this show. Can't wait for the next episode. Berthodlt!

Ok, so now we'll have 60% of flashbacks and obvious things being explained two times.

Aside from that the animations are quite good. I just wish for a better pacing.

yes i agree the OST was lacking in 80% of the episode it was not even noticeable, the ending ost was fine, but i feel like the overall sound directing could have been better, i just didnt feel like the OST build an atmosphere, much better in the first ep

Last time I was so amazed by mental battles was with Death Note, but this episode definitely delivered that in the first half. And the action itself is amazing as always. This arc can definitely be a masterpiece in my opinion if it continues like that

Great episode and easily the best arc. Too much CGI used for animation, but I guess I can deal with that, lol.

The fight was not cool at all and it even looked quite disgraceful. I think that added to the realism, and made me like the scene a lot more.

Not sure, but I feel like the Armoured titan's design changed again.

That one titan that posed like a model. Haha.

In one of the shots, Eren looked like he was seductively waiting for Reiner. That ended up reminding me of that one anime where their seiyuus played boyfriends.

I can't wait for the fights to end so that we can learn the secrets of the basement.

So now Eren finally has fists strong enough to withstand his punches. While that's an obvious improvement, I must admit, I'll miss when he would punch so hard his hands exploded.

What a great episode. It only makes me want to read this part of the manga again, because of how tragic this is.

It also made me want to rewatch Eren vs Annie. God, this is going to be great. Can't wait for the next episode. This one left me trembling.

My dude, you just posted a huge manga spoiler in an anime only discussion

I didn't know it counted as a spoiler as it hasn't happened yet. I will still hide it, I guess.

Amazing episode!
Character drawings are still gorgeous as ever. Eren vs Reiner fight was short because it just follows the manga, but very well executed. Team Hanji's 3dmg with thunder spears scene was so good, i like the effects and explossions, with nice bgm.

I really had the feeling that a huge death flag rose above Erwin's head... I hope this is just a wrong thought.

About the fight featured this episode : very nice, those spears looked like missils but it showed their powerlike. But I doubt Reiner will die from it, that would be very satisfying but too easy as well.

Huh... the battle between Eren and Reiner was... disappointing to say the least. It wasn't nearly what I expected after a six months hiatus and years of waiting earlier. The animation was sloppy, the directing wasn't good either and the choreography of the figh was also kinda off. But other than that the episode wasn't that bad, and some animation moments were really good as far as I remember.
And lastly I have one more complaint - the cliffhanger at the end of the episode. In my opinion it was rather dull and underwhelming, it could've been alot better.

Let's just hope that the fight between Levi and Beast Titan will be beautifully animated!
Not really, after all the storytelling in anime is all the same as the full manga, the studio doesn't cut or add any content, so there's nothing wrong with the number of flashbacks because it follows the manga

I also agree that the music part is not good, I was hoping to hear Ost Sawano in the middle of a battle and unfortunately this always happens in any type of anime

How can they think of hesitating when Reiner has been instrumental in the dying of humanity? I get the guy was their former comrade, but he was just using them and planning to betray them from the get go. Glad they got their heads right at the end!

I love how Erwin was standing atop the wall right next to the Armored Titan and just staring like it was no big deal. That man has balls of steel.

Oh man, there was CGI throughout the episode, and I could really feel how much of a struggle this episode must've been for the animators. It came out good, but just imagine if they didn't delay this season for as long as they did. We would probably have CGI Eren and Reiner fighting each other lol.

that was because he was confused and surprised by the sudden weapons of the soldiers who could suddenly destroy his hard armor, which is why he said wait and beg to give him time to be able to understand the situation that was happening

Still, they can't deny that they used to be brothers in arms; they are humans after all. Reiner and Bertholdt too, it was clearly shown in the Season 2 that they are having it just as hard and painful. With that determination, they must have some strong reasons behind their actions.

Anyway, your avatar is really distracting, it's so hilarious *lol*

... so that when he got the countermeasures for the situation, he can go ahead slaughtering every single one of the Survey Corps. Nice try, Reiner. :)

Levi vs the best titan is gonna be incredible
Also it is embarissing that so many scouts can't deal with 3-4m titans
Levi has to clean it himself
Because the squad tasked with handling the horses consists of noobs recently transfered from the Military Police; it's even the first time for them seeing the Titans in person.
From that squad, remember Marlo? He was one from the cadet batch who joined the Military Police together with Annie. He was the one interrogated by Jean regarding Eren and Historia's location.

lol you got to be joking

just look at the previous fight and how much sakuga it has

I think it's okay if the animation quality wasn't as good as the first fight. We already saw Eren win against Reiner so in this season it has no point to put a huge budget in the second fight.

Anyways i thought the episode was FUCKING AMAZING.

sure, but like i said its only 10 episodes this time and this arc is action packed, but ye they definitely do not have enough production time for this

and also that budget meme should die already

They didn't delay it long enough . That's the problem for having a season each year not enough production time . They should have waited till fall or something. They are a small studio compared to bones and few others

I'm so hype and excited for the part 2 but I don't want to have a high expectation but I still hope that wit will give us justice. Rts arc deserves so much better than any other arcs and this arc won't be forgotten.

We're afraid we can't wait till next fall because the hype is here rn and we've been starving for more than 5 months but I still hope wit won't mess up this arc. I love rts arc so much I hope they really gonna give us the best.

Eh it was okay. Alot of scenes felt weirdly animated and we are only at episode 2.
Hopefully it gets better in terms of animation since this arc is the best one in the series.

Oh...Levi's the only one who can take on the Beast Titan eh?

Hehe, this is cute. Reiner and Erwin just chillin' on the wall. Now that we know that some of these titans have a consciousness, it's kind of cute...

Lel, I was expecting Reiner to Tombstone Piledriver Eren...

Rocket Punch!

Well it looks like Reiner is down for the count. Now is he really dead, or will we get some last words from him before he passes away next episode?
