| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Punch returns! Somewhat... Glad to see the staple pet return here in some form from Touch. This was a good episode. Got to see Touma pitch more, and got to know a bit more about how the family structure works. Otomi was also pretty sweet in this episode too. And the father from back in his youth was so awkward and hilarious in the photos... curious about the uniform and how he used to perform back in the day. The pacing maybe slow for some people, but this is an Adachi show. It's meant to be like this and I'm so far enjoying it. |
| It's nice to get a decently paced character driven story for a change. Just need it to have at least 50 episodes like Cross Game. And maybe get rid of the narrator and awkward baseball trivia popping at the screen. Still, so far so good. |

| Goofy episode, dont know why we are spending so much time on *protecting otomi*, and also so with all those dates They are really going a great job making Toe seem the superior brother. Pitcher plot needs to get back to being the focus. |

| Liked this episode a lot better than the 1st one. The siblings' relationship is endearing. |
| I think the staff did an alright job of getting the general tone of the series in a similar vein to previous adaptations of adachi's work like Cross Game. I thought the episode was nice. |

| It was cute but boring. Probably will put it on hold and watch Touch first. But if Touch is similar probably won't watch any of this. Somewhat disappointed. |

| Pace is nice and follows along with the manga. Note that there is a lot of story here and a full adaptation probably needs at least four cours to fit things in. |

| 3/5 @Ten Touch has the advantage of telling a "full story". But you won't get something different from here in terms of speed in the events if that's what you're looking for. It would even be better to spare time by ignoring anything based on manga series written by Adachi. For example: Hiatari Ryôko!, a decent short story, was made even longer (and even more eventless in proportion) for its adaptation on the small screen. |

| Ah yes, the usual Punch gag at any Adachi Mitsuru manga. Is there any dog that isn't named after it? Love hearing that Touch first opening theme in orchestra, Hoshi no Silhouette would be a better choice though. Touma and Otomi's childhood flashback is really sweet. |

| The new Punch is adorable. Some nice explanation on the Tachibana family structure and also why everyone in the club treats Nikaidou as if he is a royalty. I hope next episode will progress the story a bit. |

| It looks like the short introduction by Minami before the OP will happen in every episode. Well Touch kinda did something similar after the OP sequence I think in early episodes so I have no issues. Otomi got some sort of prophetic vision to name her new adopted pup Punch? That's absurd. Anyways, Minami's voice actress, Noriko Hidaka, seems to be voicing the new Punch! That's pretty cute. In the original Touch it was voiced by Uesugi twin's dad Shigeru Chiba. I guess he (or she?) won't sound like a buta neko here. I liked the orchestra version of the first Touch OP. But was that 4th wall break really necessary? I think it's dumber than Mix appearing in a mangazine cover in the last episode. Sou-chan's date reminded me of Tacchan posing as Kacchan and going on a date in early Touch (I think it was in episode 1 or 2?). Man I'm nostalgic for Part I of Touch. Unfortunately rewatching it after finishing the whole series wouldn't really be the same. Ik it's a cliche line at this point but I wish I forgot my memories and could experience Touch for the first time again. At least Part I before it's dark conclusion in episode 26. I still find the structure of the family confusing even after the explanation. I don't think this anime is long enough for me to 'get' everything before it ends. Let's see. What's clear as day though is that Otomi's got the hots for "Tou-chan" (yes I still find this nickname funny). These little explanation animation are neat but kinda annoying when they reuse something from past episode. The coach is shady like I though. But no way is he doing what he's doing just cos he was friends with a rich dude in high school. There's probably more going on. So far this anime has been uneventful which is expected. But I do hope something happens soon cause it's only 24 episodes which is less than a quarter the length of Touch and half of Cross Game which I haven't watched yet but I assume is better (kinda wish I wasn't spoiled about the first episode from old posts in Touch episode forums in MAL). But at the same time I also think this anime puts out a lot of information with very little time to process them which Ik sounds a bit contradicting. Maybe it's just me(?) |
