Elitist or not, it is a very legit point. I really hate it when the Shounen ai/Yaoi genres oversexualizing/fetishizing/are just plain rapey. It has been a great source of frustration for me, the fact that those are the mangas being picked for animation. I actually rage-quitted a series last season xD "Given" is unlike those, we get great relationships and above all great characters. Also, music animes tend to be crazy well made... So yeah, I am really HYPED about this one :) |

| Given is a great title, didn't expect it to be adapted at all. I'm very excited about it, I'm just hoping the adaptation is good. The source material IS good, now all we need is for the staff to take good care of it. They seem like a bunch of nobodies which has me worried. |

| I knew there will be an anime adaptation but i didn't know that it will be in this summer :O I'm really excited about how it will turn out. Anime art seems quite good. ^^ But i hope they don't just skip the singing part for the adaptation like they did in the cd drama :/ |
| Do you really think the anime community of all communites is gonna hype a series about gay men? Yuuri on Ice was the rare exception and we all know how well that turned out with the insane hate brigade against it, even a manga considered a classic like Banana Fish was ignored during the season it aired because people didn't like that it looked gay. The fact that it's perfectly acceptable to avoid a series based on the main characters sexual preferences speaks for itself, if a gay man said he wouldn't watch Steins;Gate just because the main characters were straight, imagine how people would react? The same doesn't apply to straight men and gay romances for some reason however. If Given's main characters were 2 girls however, it would absolutely be more hyped, as they're lesbians so they can jerk off to it. |

| Plenty of people are hyping it. Just not here. Gosh I have been over on Kitsu, anilist, and yaoi discords and they are already hyping it. Oh and Bananafish was super hype on Kitsu and Anilist. People just don't like gay here. |

| I try not to get hyped up when a bl/gl anime comes out, because most of them are kind of sucky. Don't need to be getting my hopes up for nothing. Still gonna watch it tho. ♥ |

I think Antique Bakery had some issues, but wasn't bad in this respect - though its more of a josei than BL, I think, despite its gay characters. I know that's just one title, but ALL doesn't seem quite fair. I agree the scene hasn't had many good BL series at all, and this is a pretty rare title to see adapted, I'm just throwing that out there. |
