Also, having seen the term thrown for virtually any show with a group of girls as main characters makes me feel conflicted about not putting Princess Principal, Haibane Renmei and Revue Starlight at the top. So if you consider them CGDCT, count them in the list. |

Idol anime like Love Live or Idolm@ster is in its essence a CGDCT, part of Iyashikei (healing) anime genre. Also, when it comes to the CGDCT trope I'm more prefered to lighthearted silly comedy and this far the one that grow so much with me is Yuru Yuri and Milky Holmes. They're both has something unique compared to tons of others out there. Yuru Yuri often employs dimensional breaker into the 4th wall and react very well to their fandom meme, things like invisible protagonist, staged opening sequence, etc. It was really a hidden gem when it was first aired, over time it only gets more popular due how internet culture works. On the other hand Milky Holmes often goes under the radar because of how it appears like a young demographic show at first glance (shows like precure, pripara, etc.) while it was actually more towards the 'moe' fags crowds. I would put it on the same level of Teekyuu. |

I have doubts with that as well, but with a term that is so unclear to define at times I think I'd give Sora yori a pass because it has a lot of cutesy comedy in between. Having a more clear dramatic narrative doesn't deny the tons of breather moments it has where we watch the main cast doing cute and fun stuff together. Which is also one of its biggest selling points since it nails so well these moments. |
