- The church being against the shield hero feels more like a plot contrivance than anything else, as it featured too little and its connection with the state made too late to actually have the correct impact.
- The scene at the end with Ren would've worked better if we hadn't been shown how incompetent the other heroes are not an episode or two prior, and if Naofumi had any sort of respect or relations with the other heroes to come to the conclusion that he could believe in Ren.
- Naofumi certainly mastered his new shield rather quickly, and seems to have had contributed to no actual growth.
- (Just for fun) Why waste the manpower to find Melty, when they could just wait for the shield hero to be teleported during the next wave?

Contradictions/Questions?:
- Melty is the heir to the throne and the one her mother trusts. The church is their state religion, so how is it possible she did not know why the shield hero was hated?
- If it is a state religion, shouldn't the Queen have some sort of power over the church, as the head of the kingdom (assuming she is not just some figurehead)? So why then is the shield then still hated, if she herself doesn't think that way.
- How does Melty not have a legion of loyal soldiers, as the rightful heir, while Malty seemingly has most in her back pocket?
- If the shadow's are always there, then is Melty ever in actual danger?

in fact all the contradictions that you question for this series, starting from the church of 3 heroes to the queen's plan you will know in the upcoming episode, if I explain everything it might be a annoying spoiler

Few shows made me hate a noteworthy female character or villain. Shield Hero made me absolutely wish for the most painful, filled with anguish, long-lasting torture preceding slow death of the presented red-haired scum whorefag.

Utterly manipulative, lying, scheme-planning, two-faced and downright repulsive in her actions. Result of exceptional character-writing. That's how i can tell, in this case the villain, deserves her title. Am looking forward to watching her and her pet-cuck die on screen in the aforementioned fashion. With no details spared.

I don't trust the writing in the anime to actually answer them well or be clever enough to give answers that don't just add to the "look how disadvantaged you were from the beginning" theme, if at all. I have read the manga as translated (not the original source, but still goes over the story) and I don't remember if they go over this.

It's getting to the point where Malty is pissing me off way too much every time I see her, it is starting to bore me and now just plain annoying. The spear hero is a retard who will follow Malty because she's royalty and she's a women. I figured that Ren would eventually go over to their side because of his calm personality, the bow hero has the mind of a child so he can't think for himself. And yet, I still watch this every week when it aires, amazing.

i agree theres proper punishment for people like her if this anime really follows the LN and not WN im happy on what is coming to her. Also myne not really a big villan of this show she just some anoying peddle in ur path, to bad the first real antagonist of this show it isnt even in this season, and yes his name is kyo

was really supposed to be the hero who has nothing and slowly rise to become the greatest hero and im not saying the strongest but actualy help people and save this world. Bc myme going to be done in vol 4 in the LN and theres at least 21 vol so far. Like i said in one post that i think is the very first villan of this series isnt even going to be in this anime season. If you can google a picture of kyo.

maybe because you forgot or missed something, I also reread the manga and LN because I had been reading for a year, and after re-reading I found the answer I was looking for, most people forget little things when reading manga because they often do marathons in 1 day so they forget a few things

in my opinion you don't need to mind the moral problem that happened to naofumi, if he decides to hate and hold a grudge against people who have condemned him, that is his right because in the end he looks humane and not crazy compared to protagonist Lelouch in anime CODE GLASS and Yagami in the Death Note anime, and the funny thing is that readers don't even hate these two villain characters

but the philosophy possessed by Kira and Lelouch was initially formed also by their trauma on crime and the badness of justice on blunt laws, so that all of them triggered them to follow and believe the philosophy they considered right, while naofumi was at least fortunate to be saved from that philosophy

Only on the part of Lelouch we have a trauma being a factor of guilt over his behavior, however, it is not the only thing that defines his character, but also his personality, we know Lelouch in a state of calm where he is characterized as being intelligent, determined and a military strategist. Another example of this is Guts which history takes time to know his character before the eclipse event occurs. The big problem Naofumi had was that we did not have characterization the before the rape accusation, he was just sitting patiently listening to a tutorial without any trace of enthusiasm for the situation.
