Heavy stuff, I'm honestly a bit shaken. There really was no way to save Zen, he was truly dying and he would never get better enough to go through surgery. It was really only through that demon's power that he managed to stay alive.

Chiaki is insufferable even when he is only trying to help though. Of course he didn't get as close to Zen as Maron did with his practical/insensitive way of dealing with stuff, but he still refused to acknowledge Zen's remaining humanity. It's true, Zen couldn't be left like that, the demon had to be sealed. But he was still alive and he had agency. If he had accepted the pact in the despair of his dying breath, then he refused to go through with it for the sake of remaining himself, of not living a lie. I'm happy that he managed to see his parents one last time thanks to Jeanne, but I still can't believe he died in his mother's arms considering the tone of the anime so far...

The reason his parents didn't visit him was really silly though. They didn't want to "pressure" him because they knew he would act as if he were fine, but didn't they stop to think how he would feel when they just disappeared after leaving him to die alone in a hospital?

By what Noin said he had contact with the original Jeanne d'Arc, he might even have loved her. And now he came to the conclusion that he can't find her in Maron, her reincarnation, so he is going to end her life to free Jeanne's soul. I also loved the way Maron questioned god in the end. Why was Zen born, and had this soul which longed to fly in the first place if he was just going to die like this?

Man, that episode was intense... Definitely one of the best so far. Can't wait to see how it concludes.
