Legit not joke, I check the score for the anime last night and it was sitting @ a 7.63. Now when I wake up it's at a 7.67, which is good to see but I guess this is good news in a way. People like the anime and are more prone now to read the manga, which thankfully has been the case. That and the BD/DvD copies sold a really good amount its first week, so this hopefully will lead to another season probably in Oct 2020 to give them enough time to complete it

You have a large population of people (like me) who wait for the last episode to clear before binge watching. Probably a large number of first votes last night.

Yeah typically the anime's score will increase after the people who actually like it finish it. I think the most absurd score boost was that of Planet With. It went from like 6.5 to 7.3 over the course of a day after the finale dropped and is now sitting at 7.4. Goes to show that you can't really judge an anime based on its score as it airs.

I think it's got something to do with the 1/5 rule

If you're ever curious about score changes, be sure to check out the MAL Score Progressions CLub. I like checking it every now and then to see the score changes that happen and they mark how the score changes weekly.

Besides that, yeah scores usually change at the very end because people don't rate it until it ends. Run with the Wind was sitting at 8.08 at its second final episode, but when the final episode came and people finally rated it, a whopping 0.39 was added to the overall score, making it 8.47.
