About 4 years ago I only watch main stream anime, now I'm watching obscure moe anime, trying to learn how to draw anime style, and posting on a fucking anime forum.

I haven't seen as much as most people but I have seen some random stuff. I will also watch almost anything as long as it isn't totally idiotic. Or as long as it has some sort of value.

I'm not too deep in the rabbit hole, but I think it's only a matter of time before I fall down to the bottom.

I'm probably otaku level already; I watch some disturbing shit, listen to J-pop and J-rock continuously, play mostly japanese games, specially JRPGs, watch dorama and tokusatsu... I go to conventions and discuss seriously about animanga, I do cosplay sometimes, hook up with japanese woman... Also, I'm trying to learn japanese, I'm training myself in martial arts (mostly bujutsu) and my porn is hentai. There's more obscure shit as well, but I think that's enough for now.

So far I've watched is the order a rabbit and bunny girl senpai.

I still haven't watched usagi drop, tiger and bunny, or a dark rabbit has 7 lives.

Now I am waiting to see how many people get the joke or tell me that rabbits, bunnies, hares, etc are different animals (which I don't actually know).

I'm so deep I feel that most forum posters are newbies who have no idea how deep the rabbit-hole goes. Especially when they say something along the lines of "Y anime is the worst anime ever!", but that Y anime is merely boring, and they haven't seen the truly horrible stuff.

P.S. I wanted to write "X anime", but "X" is an actual anime title. I hope "Y" isn't.

The joke is pretty good.
By the way, rabbits are the ones that live in holes, and hares are the ones that don't. No idea if "bunny" refers to any specific subgroup of those long-eared animals. All this matters only if you're playing "Bunnies and Burrows". Japanese language doesn't even have different words for them.

I used to be pretty deep down a few years back. In fact I reached to lowest layer of hell, the fujoshi sports anime fandom.

I've crawled out nowadays tho. Now I'm only like maybe finger deep in the anime rabbit hole.

i got into modern anime in 2015
back then i was a casual and i only watch mainstream anime
some of the most memorable ones are steins;gate, shokugeki no soma, akame ga kill, noragami and oregairu

i used to hate psychological/mecha anime but later on i've grown attached to them

around 2016, i was introduced to mystery/historical anime and i've became more mature as an anime viewer
i wrote my first review (not on mal) of an anime(paprika) in 2017 and that's the year i began actively discovering older and lesser popular anime
and i was more open toward different genres

i finished at least 300 anime or so in 2017

i've fallen deep enough i think

By checking the profiles of people saying that they're very deep in the rabbit hole, I've noticed something.
It's clearly discouraging to see that their favorites animes are still really mainstream animes that I, as a casual watcher (130 ish completed), have already seen or already know but intentionally didn't plan to watch because I know my tastes and my standards.

It's like if I already ate 80% of the anime pie and what's left are mostly crumbs or really rare hidden gems impossible to find.

Feel free to recommend some good shit

In 1998 I found DBZ and Pokemon.
In 2012 I started watching a few obscure anime.
In 2013 I started watching seasonal.
In 2014 I started watching hentai.
In 2015 I started having fantasies about my waifus.
In 2019, I created a hentai discord server so people can worship their waifus.

Its over.

The fact that although my 'weeby' factor cooled completely, I still love the same shows from 11 years ago and still watch anime to this day should tell u that I'm head over heels for anime.

Not really, I'm just lucky; I mean, there's a big Japanese community where I live, that's why we have a lot of conventions and entire neighborhoods that are completely Japanese. So, it's not that hard to get along. Ah, I forgot to mention that I play Visual Novels/Eroge as well...

I watch both mainstream and unpopular anime, I listen to a lot of anime music (and Japanese music in general), I spend time not only on MAL but also AniList and various anime-related facebook groups and group conversations. The most weeb thing I've recently done was a small campaign to promote Jotaro as a top-tier husbando on a certain fb group. It worked and I regret nothing.

In terms of watching anime: See for yourselves and tell me if I'm a casual or not.

In terms of collecting my favorite show on DVD and Blu-ray since 2009, DeviantArt, YouTUbe, a couple of PVC figures and several art books: Again, you decide.

I'd say I'm a casual fan and I'm very happy this way. I watch what I want when I want at the pace I want, not worrying about popularity, obscurity, edginess, reviews, ratings...For me it's the best way.

Well I do moderate an anime forum, so I'd say I'm pretty deep into it.
One bright day in the middle of the night, two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard the noise and came and killed those two dead boys

I snuck my hand in it when i was young and when i took it out it was full of some slimy stinky disappointment.
On this day im 20 meters away from the hole, drinking my tea on my plastic table and laughing at the people jumping in it.

Here's my timeline:
February 2015: became interested in anime
March 2015: read my first manga (NGE)
August 2015: attended my first convention
October 2015: bought my first anime t-shirt
December 2015: started playing the anime inspired trading card game Cardfight Vanguard
February 2016: joined my college's anime club
March 2016: bought my first anime poster (Infinite Stratos) and bought my first JRPG Valkyria Chronicles and became interested in JRPGs
June 2016: became interested in vocaloid music
Fall 2016: read my first light novel Overlord to learn more about its universe
2018: watched 60 anime in the year, a new record for me.
So, as you can see, after discovery I quickly became consumed by anime and many things related to it. Overall I would be considered elbow deep even though I really haven't seen that many shows. There was just something about anime that just clicked with me. Probably the next things I'll be interested in is cosplay and collecting merchandise like figures.
