I don't know where to ask so I think of posting it here. Sales thread is something that I always look forward to every week but as February all of them disappear. I can see BD/DVD and Manga sales elsewhere but I lost the convenient for reading CD and LN sales. I just want to know why considering it covered by two people and both are gone. ![]() |
Sorry, I can't give you much. Let me just say that when we have plans to stop posting a recurring thread, we usually mention it in the thread (ex). The reason has nothing to do with the data or workload. No idea when we'll have the threads up again, which sucks since ANN doesn't have the weekly CD or LN rankings. Hope this helps you, @NeoAnkara and @sasalx. ![]() Submit News ∶ Guidelines ∶∶ BBcode Guide ∶∶ Jazz-hop ∶ J-hop ∶ Hip-hop ∶ 80s Inspo ∶∶ Source |
@Snow Shame really. Anyway for those who like to look at LN sales like myself there is LN youtuber called Justus R Stone which arguably the only LN youtuber out there. There are lot of LN related video a well. I don't have reliable way to get CD data except for translating entire site with google translate. ![]() |

Super late reply to you, @kuuderes_shadow. Accessing the data isn't a problem, we're just hesitant to post them (atm) for various reasons. We could maybe use Refugee-chan for the LN rankings, but when it comes to unofficial sites we're required to have multiple sources. @NeoAnkara - Do you happen to know of any blogs that lists the CD rankings? Maybe it's something we could look more into. ![]() Submit News ∶ Guidelines ∶∶ BBcode Guide ∶∶ Jazz-hop ∶ J-hop ∶ Hip-hop ∶ 80s Inspo ∶∶ Source |

Japan's Weekly Manga Sales are one of my favorite news postings every week. I also use them to update my manga lists with the current volume count. Please bring these news articles back, thanks! ![]() |
We stopped posting the weekly sales threads because we needed to change Oricon accounts to continue paying for access to this data. When we changed accounts, it became apparent to us that we were in violation of the Terms of Use for personal accounts—namely, that the data should not be posted elsewhere. For several weeks/months, we were investigating the possibility of a corporate account to post the Weekly sales without being in violation. To be frank, the amount of money Oricon wants is outrageous, and it is simply not financially feasible. Since other Japanese outlets are not posting this data (likely due to the exorbitant price), we have no reliable sources for this data aside from the shortened versions of the rankings which Oricon makes publicly available. These top 10 are often similar titles, and since we'd already stopped posting the full rankings for a number of weeks, it didn't seem worthwhile to start posting a shortened version of this data again. The LN sales ranking is particularly problematic, because we were taking data from two rankings and removing the non-LN series to make the final ranking, which would not be as easily possible without full access. We've been investigating other rankings/sales data options in Japan, but haven't found any that we deemed suitable within a reasonable price range yet. If you have any ideas, please feel free to mention them. ![]() Join MAL's Mod Team! ✧ Guidelines & FAQ ✧ Watch Spy x Family [My heart went ぎゅう] |
@Kineta how about Shoseki rankings? its usually posted by twitter users besides the Oricon rankings its here http://shosekiranking.blog.fc2.com/ and to me even just posting the shortened versions the top 10 of Oricon each week is enough ![]() |
I'll call @kuuderes_shadow since he seem to have access to LN sales. ![]() |
for discs (BD/DVD) sales i only know of Amazon Stalker as an alternative to Oricon EDIT: never mind Amazon Stalker is dead according to this http://www.someanithing.com/9725 im not updated with this one disc sales are dying anyway so never mind it overall ![]() Modified by deg, Nov 30, 2019 7:03 AM |
I get them from refugee-chan for sales figures, which is already discussed in posts 7 and 8 of this thread, and the stuff posted publicly on Oricon's website for series rankings (and other stuff that I've posted from time to time). -- Regarding Shoseki...They're probably okay for manga as they have a separate (more usable) set of rankings for it, but for light novels they're a pain to use: the data is (or was) erratic in its posting date; there's no indication of whether or not something is a light novel (so you need to recognise the name of every title - or look it up); the volumes are spread over two different lists with no way of integrating them with one another; you have to copy and paste the ISBN into a retailer in order to find out for sure which volume/version of a series is on the ranking as they almost never have volume numbers (for some reason their manga rankings do have volume numbers)... and it's a top 500 ranking, with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly rankings* and no actual sales figures, with ranks 101 to 500 on a different page to the top 100. I used to use them for tracking anime boosts back when book-rank.net cut out most of the work by posting the list sorted by publishing label, but since they stopped I haven't bothered with it at all except for the yearly rankings. *using calendar months/years, unlike Oricon. ![]() Modified by kuuderes_shadow, Nov 30, 2019 11:53 PM Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club including weekly series ranks etc). <-- No longer being updated.
