Half of the time I find it awkward to watch it alone in my room with headphones.

It's anime, if you're not feeling gross while doing it you're depraved of chromosomes.

Watching anything anime related is embarrassing Perhaps a little bit, I avoid this kind of exposure.

If I do it in public, it's usually in a mostly empty Starbucks with my back to the wall.

It's no less awkward than watching anything else in public.

To be honest it no. If I'm watching like SAO and other mainstream anime then I know that I'm not that one guy who had different taste on everyone in public. but if I'm watching niece and unpopular anime like let's say for example Tsuki ga kirei then I probably feel awkward watching it in public if that's the case for most people. Me well my school and 90% of my neighborhood watch anime and maybe even hentai so I don't find it awkward to watch anime in public... So no

I can't do it, but it's not especially Anime/Manga. I don't like the feeling i get with others (possibly) looking over my shoulders so, if it's Anime, Movies, sometimes even Books or texts for study, i avoid it. The only thing i do in public is listen to music.

I don't even read MAL in public so you can probably guess my position on anime.
Plus as others have said it's more enjoyable for me aswell to watch anime in a quiet and safe environment. Except if it's a crappy show or a filler it's okay to "waste it" imo.

Yesterday I watch one fantasy anime on the school computer and anything have happened so I think no one will say you anything if the anime is not ecchi or hentai

As long as there are no dicks/tits flying around, I have no real issue with watching anime in public. But I like to 'concentrate' when watching anime, so I'd rather not, since I'd definitely get distracted. Plus, I can never have like a cool or normal face when watching anime, and I doubt anyone would prefer to expose their ahegao faces in public.

Man I know that feeling. However as long you have headphones and it's not too ecchi then its fine.

I never care what I watch in public. I don't watch hentai - because I don't watch porn either so...

Everything else? Don't fucking care about anyone opinions. And I am 38 year old banker and everyone around me knows my love.

I am really trouble I read here people are afraid of showing their own tastes. Fakes. World is changing. If anyone arounds you mock you or complain fuck them. They don't like you as well. Don't change because on anyone else opinion bar your own.

It would be quite awkward but I wouldn't either way because my danger sense would go crazy if I have earphones in and stare at a screen in public, I wouldn't sense what's around me and always look around

Why should I? I usually don't watch anime in public, but I wouldn't have any problem with it unless the anime I'm watching has ecchi kind of fanservice.

It's okay to me to watch in public. I watched anime while commuting, I have 1 hr in commuting so I don't want to waste my time in just looking in my surroundings and I'm not fan of browsing social med any more. But the problem is if I watched comedy or drama! Hahah I just use facial mask to cover my smile or my sad emotions ;(

I don't really watch anime in public because I usually have something more productive to do. If I don't I just read manga which is easier to look away and immerse yourself into again.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Everyone is thinking like what the f?!
Is he watching those chinese cartoons again?
It got me triggered and god I feel like I want to murder someone that day.
That's why, I prefer not to watch anime on public, instead I wanna read a manga or play music using earphones.

I don't mind watching it in public as long as I know no one's looking.
What I mean is if I have myself up against a wall or in the corner. I only ever view it on my phone anyways, no big, noticeable screens.

I do it a lot! especially while waiting for the bus.
I don't really pay attention to those around and I'm trying not to care about other peoples opinions on me(a bad habbit i'm trying to make, because i am extremely self-conscious about everything)

I've never thought someone feel that way lol.. I think it's more embarrassing if you're watching in loud speaker mode because it would be nuisance to others.

only fight sequences when I am bored, western audiences like their fan service served game of throwns fashion and anime is too blunt for them

No, unless I'm on a crowded bus or something. I don't really like watching anime on my phone anyway. I started Devilman Crybaby's first episode on a bus
with no idea what was going to happen and now I have trust issues.

If someone were sitting right next to me and could see what I was watching, yes. There are plenty of series that have some rather questionable visuals that can be taken out of context quite easily. But I've watched in public on my phone plenty of times such as when I'm in transit (train, bus, etc) or in a waiting area for something. So it just depends on the circumstances.

In that case, I only watch anime I know have less "awkward" scenes and are more serious. It helps that I like more serious genres, though, I would like to watch comedy as well, but most of them have moments you would need to explain. Maybe if I was watching comedy like Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, but those comedies are rare.
