Stroke Order: How do YOU write the English alphabet?

Context: So I'm about to teach someone how to write the English alphabet, and the supplementary book displays the stroke orders and directions for each letter. Most of them seem pretty standard, but there are some recommended stroke orders that I don't follow and they just straight up seem inefficient. That got me wondering: how do most people write their letters?

So if you have the time, can you mimic on https://sketchtoy.com/ how YOU usually write the capital letters: A, G, H, J, K, M, N, W, and Y? For maximum fun, add also how you draw a standard star ★

This is basically a very casual survey.

Another thing: it'd be really nice if you could include the country where you grew up in (basically where you've written the English alphabet the most).
I'll start.

Country: USA

I'm left-handed, so I my stroke order is a little different than that picture, but most are the same.

Also, when I write the letter Y, I draw the bottom stem first.

Oh interesting, so just to confirm you write M and N with 4 separate strokes and 3 separate strokes respectively? Starting from outside to inner? And for Y, you also use 3 strokes?

Actually, when I write M and N, I never lift the pencil off the paper, I write them in one glide, starting from the bottom left.

I use 3 strokes for Y though.

Looking at it, I'm surprised how differently I do M and W.

Edit: The way you do your Y is how I do it for lower case.

Also only did the letters I do differently than the sample image.

Some of the orderings in the book seem so strange to me. I'm from the U.S.

The X, for example- I do the second stroke from the bottom left up

Anyway, don't judge my handwriting skills with this high DPI mouse lmao:

You mean latin alphabet in general? Because the standards are pretty much the same for every language based on the latin alphabet aren't they? Anyway I'm from Poland: http://sketchtoy.com/68865852

I'd say the order you posted from the book is simply wrong for letters like H, M or W, I wouldn't follow those instructions. Just teach the person the way that feels natural.

Yeah, the stroke orders for M and W seem "wrong" (although someone who replied on this forum did actually write M in the same order as the book's). I personally write H from left to right, but like half the people here wrote the vertical lines first before the horizontal. And then there's you, who writes it with 1 stroke xD

H is a weird one because I often see people writing it in different ways and I also write it from left to right with more strokes sometimes, although I never thought some people also write vertical lines first. Anyway if I recall correctly the way of writing with one stroke is the one I was taught in the kindergarten. Also now I remembered that when I was learning how to write, I was focusing on more 'handwritten' type of letters. Here's some kindergarten letters chart similar to the one I was using:

Actually it makes me curious now, do people in other countries also write the small 's' like this?

(Also there's no stroke order so that the kid can learn naturally. Some do include a recommendable order, but some don't. Depends on a version. I believe the one I was using had stroke order.)

It depends if I am going for speed or neatness or calligraphy. I will leave calligraphy out because it's been so long since I did it and it's more complicated and differs by font but in general it goes top to bottom, left to right any left motions even on an O, and Q is kept to a minimum which increases stroke count.

My A: ↗↘➡ (2 strokes)
My A2: ↙↘➡ (3 strokes)
My G: 🔄➡ (2 strokes)
My G2: 🔄⬅ (1 stroke) rarely used
My H: ⬇⬇➡ (3 strokes)
My J: ➡⬆➡ (2 strokes) I do the T at top last
My K: ⬇↙↘ (2 strokes)
My K2: ⬇↙↘ (3 strokes)
My M: ↗↘↗↘ (1 stroke)
My M2: ⬇↘↙⬇ (4 strokes)
My N: ⬆↘⬆ (1 stroke)
My N2: ⬇↘⬆ (3 strokes)
My W: ↘↗↘↗ (1 stroke)
My W2: ⬇↙↘⬇ (4 strokes)
My Y: ↘↙⬇ (3 strokes)
My Y2: ↘↙ (2 strokes) angled y rarely used
My D: ⬇⬆⬇⬆(many strokes)

No definitely not, the usual lowercase "s" is a half-sized capital S. The "s" you were taught to write looks like a mini J rotated 45 degrees lol.

The way you write K is definitely nonstandard, but hold up—is the hook on your G vertical?? Or is that just cause of the trackpad lol

I'm weird and write all of my letters from bottom to top instead of top to bottom. Teachers would scold me about it when I was in elementary school, but it's a habit I never grew out of because I find it more comfortable to write that way.

I write things in one strong, if it's possible.
Not used to write on my screen tho. My laptop has a touchscreen, but still.

Well it depends on your definition of "care." B) Does this knowledge/awareness make a practical difference in our lives? No, probably not, but neither do discussions about whether an objective reality exists or discussions regarding Pokemon conspiracy theories. I still find both interesting, however. Nothing inherently wrong with pursuing a little curiosity for curiosity's sake :9

I apologize if your question was rhetorical. but it didn't seem like it would be since I couldn't think of a reason why you'd post it if so but if it actually was sorry for wasting your time

Also, stroke order and direction is incredibly important and emphasized in Mandarin. My parents would (figuratively) slap me silly if I wrote 口 with 1 or 2 strokes instead of 3. Luckily no one really gives a shit for English.

I thought about whether to say Latin or English alphabet for the title of the discussion, but the wiki page referred to the A-Z 26-letter alphabet as the English alphabet. The classical Latin alphabet doesn't have J, U, or W (according to the Wiki page). Honestly though, I'm not really sure what the technical differences are.

Yeah I wasn't aware there was even a stroke order for the English alphabet either lol. I remember getting drilled for it when learning Mandarin, but not English.
