My very first anime that have i watched is Doraemon. At my childhood, i always watch TV, and Doraemon airing in my country every sunday (until now even is always repeated). I like it, and now i still watch it every Sunday. But, the anime that makes me like anime is D-Frag and KonoSuba. After watching those two animes, i watched anime till now! Of course all of those first anime that i have watched isn't on my favourites, because later i found that i liked sci-fi anime.

My first anime apart from the ones that were televised like Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh and probably a couple of others was Dragon Ball like so many others. As for non-mainstream I don't remember at all what came in what order. My favorites started developing after I'd watched more anime so the first couple of anime I watched are definitely not one of my favorites.

If you mean first Anime ever even without knowing that it is an anime, then No (Would be Heidi and a lot of other childrens shows)
If you mean first anime where I knew that it was anime, then Yes (Hellsing Ultimate)

Death Note, and it isn't. I find it great quality-wise but doesn't fit in my top. Second and third anime I still love though (KonoSuba (kinda guilty pleasure) and Evangelion (my #3))

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. It has sentimental value because I have watched it so many times when I was a kid and I start to cry whenever I hear the opening song. It's old and quite different from any other anime. I'd say it has a special place in my heart.

While I hold Kotoura-san in a special place in my heart for being an anime that showed me the potential of the medium and kept me interested while there was nothing to do, there are a lot of other shows that liked a lot more ever since then. It's definitely one of the most memorable ones though ♥

the first anime i watched (while knowing the term anime) was Cowboy Bebop so OBVIOUSLY it is still one of my favs

the second i watched was the first 25 episodes of bleach. Bleach is no where near my favorites. I dont even thing bleach is all that good as a whole.

Firstly I don't even know what I'd count as my first anime. First japanese cartoon I saw on TV as kid without even knowing it's anime? There's plenty of shows like that from my childhood but I don't know which one was the first.

First anime I saw on TV as a teen when I knew that anime was from Japan? Not even sure what that would be, maybe Pokemon or Dragonball.

First anime I consciously downloaded to watch on my own? That's Dragonball GT.

In any case I think it's safe to say neither of those are among my top favorites at this point. That's mostly shows I picked up after 2010 once I really got into anime after discovering MAL.
I probably regret this post by now.

No. Unico, Jack and the Beanstalk, Speed Racer, Dragonball Z, and Pokemon are not on my favorites. The first anime I found outside of regular TV programming, Slayers, gets close to the Top 10 list, but doesn't quite breach it.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Zero no Tsukaima!

First time, it was really really fun, 10/10. I was in love with Louise, I has gotten into anime, turned me into chuunibyou (I was around that age lol). Back then I did not even know what an anime is, a waifu is, a chuunibyou is, or any anime term is.

Rewatched 3 times. Yea, it’s not the best anime, it’s not 10/10. Objectively, it’s not even that good.

But I still love it, maybe it’s subjective, but It’s still my favourite.

So ==> I reallize Zero no Tsukaima is not objectively that good. But I still love it no matter what.

SAME HOLY SHIT FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME! IVE REWATCHED IT 3 TIMES AS WELL AND I STILL LOVE IT TO THIS DAY EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT'S NOT THAT GOOD

I guess Naruto was my technical first that I went out of my way to watch but heck no it's not even comparable.

But if we talking about an anime that I went out on to the interweb and looked for which I think was Utena (it was all on youtube at one point) then it's still my favorite and probably more so now then it was to my 13 year old self.

My first non-mainstream anime was actually Re:Zero. Rem was my waifu for about two years before I let myself believe in another waifu. And I was absolutely ecstatic about the Season 2 announcement

My biggest regret: Reading all 200+ chapters of Kanojo, Okarishimasu

Well, yes, if I consider the first anime I watched knowing it was an anime, which was Saint Seiya in the mid 90's. I watched other animes before that like Zillion, Le Petit Prince anime adaptation, and probably some others, but I didn't know I was watching an anime, to me it was just some regular cartoon like others I watched by the time e.g. He-Man, Thundercats, Dinosaucers....

Not counting things like Shinchan, Doraemon, Pokemon, etc, my first 'official anime' was Chuunibyou, something that got me truly interested in the media. And yes, it definitely is still one of my favourites. I've rewatched the whole series at least 10 times lol, and now I'm just so we'll acquainted with the show, its characters and its whole atmosphere that it's become a bit like home to me. It will, hopefully, always have a special place in my heart and favourites list, haha.

Yu Yu Hakusho is my all time favorite. I remember watching it on Toonami before I knew what anime was. I revisted it in high school and binged all 112 episodes. Right after that, my love for anime began. This show started it all for me. It showed me just how different and unique anime is. Yu Yu Hakusho will always be my number 1 show

My first non mainstream that was immediately one of my favorites was High School DxD. At that time i didn't know much about the world of anime (around 2016/2017), and only watched shows like One Piece, Naruto, Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh and some other shows from my childhood. So.. i basically went into the harem/ecchi genres, that was the first one i've picked, and at first i thought it would be a piece of crap, but i found myself loving it a lot, and it had a pretty good story as well wich kept me always wanting more of it. I've rewatched it again last year before DxD Hero came out and i still love it even today, my opinion hasn't changed about it at all.

There was DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Flame of Recca, and Yu-gi-oh. They're all dear to me, especially YYH and Inuyasha. I might've watched YYH more than 3 times, I'm sure. It never gets old. Heck in fact I tend to try get a quick view of a certain episode, just to remember the good old times. Seen it on both sub and dub, and the dub just totally kills it. Inuyasha as well, seen it on both side.

After venturing out of my comfort zone, I saw High School DxD. I liked it, because it wasn't recommended to me by anyone but I just happened to stumbled upon it. Then came Trinity Seven. I loved it. Then the rest were history.
