I need suggestions for short old-school OVA series (12-15 episodes at most), preferably cyberpunk, like Bubblegum Crisis.

Armitage III is a classic cyberpunk OVA, and pretty good, even if it gains a frankly bizarre and slightly off seeming anti-feminism slant in it's second half.

If you haven't seen it, The Bubblegum Crisis spin off AD Police is worth a watch, much grittier and more classic William Gibson style cyberpunk, though, you will be shocked if you go in expecting more BC.

Iria: Zeiram The Animation is a very good, yet criminally over looked, classic OVA, could be argued that it's more sci-fi because it takes place in the far future, in a different galaxy, and is influenced by french sci-fi, but has a cyberpunk feel to it anyhow.

Dragon's Heaven: Again, more far future sci-fi, and again more influenced by french stuff. But made by most of the same team as Bubblegum Crisis, and, to me at least, almost feels like it could take place in the far future of that universe. It has it's problems but it's a fun and interesting watch and the art style is something to behold.

The Nora OVAs: Terrible and complete garbage, but fun to watch for a laugh.

I'll look forward to those when I get to them in my OVA challenge, though I will admit that Giant Robo seemed good, but it was so exhausting I had to put it on hold. Also, I really wasn't impressed by the first episode of Magazone 23, though maybe the other parts are better, I do understand that they vary in quality because they are all made by different studios.

You know what, I have been doing a personal challenge where I am watching every OVA from the start of OVAs to 2001 with english subs that I can find on the internet and my account is primarily used for that. I'm around 145 in right now. Was going to make a list of all the anime that is 7 and above but I'll just link to my completed list sorted by score instead. Feel free to go through it and pick out what you are interested in.

Also, lengthwise, OVAs mostly don't go over 12 episodes, and even the 12 episodes ones are quite long for an OVA, it's more common for them to be around 3 - 6 episodes long. There are a few that break the 12 episode mark, but I can't think of any off the top of my head other than the infamous Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu and it's mind numbing 110 episodes not including sequels and side stories.

Damn I was gonna say that. Make sure you watch the English dubbed version because the dubbing is glorious.

Megazone 23 - the first episode is fantastic, the other 3 pale in comparison
Parasite Dolls - Same universe as A.D. Police and Bubblegum Crisis, but much darker

Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor - 6 piece OVA, similar humor to BGC
Iczer-1
Iria: Zeiram The Animation
Angel Cop

If you still want more, the Gall Force movies are worth looking into plus I'd also recommend checking out Dirty Pair (not an OVA, 24 episodes)

If their goal is to laugh at ridiculous tryhard dubbing sure, if they want to enjoy it for what it actually is, no.

Better tryhard then not at all eh? In my opinion it added character to the performance and not really ridiculous. Stuff like Ghost Stories or Fighting Foodon is ridiculous.

Maybe I need to rewatch the dub version at some point, but I remember the voice overs not being very good and pretty much the only defining point of it is that they were angry all the time and used swearing way too much, which I guess you could argue "adds character", but it also doesn't match the original tone of the anime very well and the original voice acting is pretty good.
Also, it's just a personal preference and I'm not a snob that thinks everyone should do so, but I prefer to watch anime as close to it's original form as possible.
