I loved it too that sequence in the cowboy bebop movie. Btw, here's my answer for the homework:

1. Yoshitaka Amano
2. Nobuteru Yuuki
3. Toshihiro Kawamoto
4. Otomo Katsuhiro
5. Yoshiaki Kawajiri

I tried my best. So how was it? Please forgive me. xD

Congratulations, you've earned some cookies :>

I'm doing bit by bit self-japanese animation study these past few months. This is a good exercise and a perfect time to do a google research on that matter.

I love Satoshi Kon's character designs the most and I obviously adored something similar in a way like the likes of Toshihiro Kawamoto and Otomo Katsuhiro. If I bomb hard, I'll probably do a seppuku or never watch anime again. xD

P.S. I'm a cookie enthusiast, so that's like the most perfect reward for me aside from cheese hence my wordplay username. Where can I get these cookies? xD

Lmao I literally came in here to say "nope because then we get rotoscoping which ruined the Aku no Hana anime".
"No, son, you may not have your body pillow at the dinner table!"

Some are quite realistic imo if we exclude a few details but I'm not sure if it would be a good thing, depends on tastes

No way! It's ugly. Anime won't be so popular if it had only realistic art style.

I want it to be diverse. I want the chibis, the doe-eyed, the 'usual one', the semi-realistic, and even the 3D. Bring it on.

if they are too realistic then they cannot have exaggerated facial expressions and weird anime physics and logic.
if its too realistic then production cost goes up
if that happens then anime stops being interesting

Not really I prefer anime to look like anime. Overly realistic is not fun and not the right medium I don’t think.

What's even the point of grouping every "realistic" looking anime with each other? Not every anime using realistic looks have similar quality, with some being more realistic than others, and some finding a decent balance between realism and fiction.

That's like the older argument of non-anime watchers judging every anime saying it's weird based on a few notable examples of big eyed characters, completely forgetting the fact that each series is worked on by different staff, with different circumstances. Generalization is never a great way to prove a point

For me it all depends on the tone of the show, sometimes I like both sometimes I like realistic and sometimes I like more Colorful and expressive, serious shows definitely need realistic, fantasy needs colorful and expressive, sometimes vice versa.

I don't know but....don't take any risks.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

I'd like to see more but that would probably bankrupt some studios. Imagine all the money and efford in keeping Vagabond or Lone Wolf and Cub realistic.

Look realistic? I just want more rated R anime and less monotonous, formulaic kiddy anime so art-styles aren't everything. What's the point of making anime look like video games or real people if all they're good for is aesthetics?

I don't really care, but if you want the characters to look like real people then the anime would probably have to not be set in Japan and rather in a place where people have more distinct facial features. I wouldn't advocate for too much realism in appearances because it would increase the workload of the artists by a massive amount. However greatly detailed manga/anime is amazing visually and could almost make up for a bad story on its own.

I don't mind realistic art as long as I find it attractive.

Example:
Attractive -> Death Note
Unattractive -> Aku no Hana

Even Japanese people themselves think they lack strong facial features. A plot almost anywhere else in the world than Japan would be fine.

The anime that the picture was from was odd, I just couldnt get into it. didnt like the way it was drawn. However I dont like when the characters are drawn cartoonish either. The characters need to be human looking. LOL
