Not bad. They are rushing a bit compared to manga but it was still very enjoyable and true to the original. I would say good adaptation so far.

On that day, the children discovered a grim reality. They lived in subjugation of the monsters and were disgraced to live in that cage they called home. Sie sind das Essen.

The episode was brilliant in building the atmosphere and tension. The synopsis of the show gives a good idea as to what would be expected at the end of this episode, but the execution of the early scenes sprinkled with ominous moments to the fear and dread Emma and Norman displayed upon the discovery and while hiding/fleeing from the monsters was darkly captivating and makes the viewer eager to tag along on their upcoming escape attempt.

People are talking a lot about this anime so I decided to give it a chance. Just watched the first episode and love it! I was expecting that Mama wasn't that nice but I couldn't believe that they actually live in a human meat farm!
At this point, there is a lot of people saying that the show is overrated but I guess I need to watch to have my own opinion about that... anyway, I'm pretty curious to see how it`s going to develop

Holly mother of god.

This is like a promised great episode and anime in general. I think there is no first episode like this one, the SHOCK HOOKED episode right away.

The beginning was ominous. Expected something bad to occur but... holy cheesballs O_O. I find it strange that Conny left the rabbit behind. Did Mom take it from her off-screen saying "You won't need this where you're going" or something?

Might as well pick up the manga.

Alright time to watch this show! The OP is as I hope from the OPs that came out in the winter seasons. AMAZING!!! Absolutely awesome! The music and the visuals oh hell yeah! And the ED, deserve a mention too being a really soothing yet not so cheerful song.

So we got a Naive heroine, an edgy cool dude and a curious charismatic white-haired boi. The top 3 children from this orphanage with Norman being a genius, Ray an intellect and Emma a fast learner.

Right off the bat, the kids are playing tag and hide and seek. Some of the most essential games that teach survival skills. Especially useful to sneak in and out of a situation where demonic monsters are about to eat your ass after killing one of your fellow orphan that has been guided by the 'mom' to her death.

Not surprising of course, but damn it's exciting to want to know how they'll escape from this hellish farm together.

Gonna be watching this as it airs on Toonami.

Loved the first episode. The animation is fantastic and the music really helped set the mood. Pretty fast pacing though.

The design of the monsters are pretty freaky, lol.

All that hype yet you can tell what's going to happen from a mile away

For the people who've read The promised neverland....do the plot twists get any better onwards
I didn't not read the manga for one of the most predictable first episode turn of events I've seen in a while..."don't even read the synopsis. IT WILL SHOCK YOU REEE" sigh 😅

Yeah, cause the pacing is too fast. They should have taken their time and let it build up. Still, she was really adorable that it made me sad :(

I went into this slightly disappointed that I already knew the general premise of what was really going on there. It made it hard to enjoy those happier, lighthearted moments knowing that something far more sinister was at play. Nothing, however, could have prepared me for those morbid jump scares. Holy hell, I could feel my stomach churning when I saw Conny in the truck.

Same, I'd heard rumor that this wasn't what it seemed, though honestly I wouldn't have tried it out if it was as it seemed. Honestly, even having a general idea of what was going on before even starting, I feel this episode did excellent at making stuff unsettling before it even gets to that point (good directing!). And then, already feeling I knew what was going to happen with Conny while they were running, it still surprised me, and then I barely had time to process it before demons popped out and scared me again lmao

Well, OK start
Director did amazing job! Placement of camera, how it moved, angles etc, really added to creepy and unsetling atmosphere!!
Got spoiled that there would some twist but holly didn't expect monsters! I'm very intrigued!
Felt a little rushed though...

Very good yet quite the sad start, that girl had death flags all over her when she first appeared. I would personally have thought they would've kept us in the dark longer. But well this sure was quite the first episode I must say!

Definitely an interesting concept, reminds me of AOT. Was obvious someone was going to bite the dust and the tag metaphor would be reincorporated, unlucky for Conny. I thought the atmosphere was handled really well with some interesting use of camera angles. Have no idea how the fuck they managed to escape at the end though.

Solid first episode overall.

I was skeptical for the first 10 minutes until I realized the gravity of the situation these kids are in.
Great first episode though. I guess this is what it means to produce anime in the late 2010s early 2020s

Checking this one out finally. I can see how the manga might be paced a bit better. A moment that stuck with me from the first episode here was Conny deciding last minute she didn't wanna go. Haunting in afterthought.

oh man, this is one of the best first episodes of anime in recent memory. Yeah, the "twist" at the end was wholly predictable, but it was executed wonderfully. I was left aghast in suspense and sheer terror. The unsettling, otherworldly oppression the demonoids presented was palpable. The contrast of childhood imagination and innocence pressed firmly against that raw terror... fuck man I loved this episode. The OP/ED and OST are perfect too.

This was a 10/10 and the last time I remember enjoying a debut episode of anime so much was with Parasyte way back in the day. It's also strong evidence for why I prefer to go into a series blind.

What a start. Everything seemed so peaceful even if I didn't understand why these kids shouldn't come near at this little fence. Emma, Norman and Ray are interesting kids and as all the other kids they just dream about what they want to do outside of their current place.

I can't even describe why, but from the first second on there was a tension for me which got bigger and bigger. The scene with Conny was just disturbing. I didn't see that coming. Just imagine how you would have felt as an 11 year old kid? It's so fucked up. I don't even know how all of these kids will make it out of there. Especially if you see Isabellas face at the end. I have a very bad feeling.

Bruh I recently got recommended this anime having no idea of what it's about and let me just say. WOW. I thought it was gonna be some kind of pg anime with them exploring the woods or some shit but when they found that body that shit had me spooked as fuck for a second. I was like OH SHITTTTT!

I'm definitely gonna keep watching I hope it has that same momentum as this episode.

Ho Lee Fuk. That was something. Would've been way better though if instead of being raised as livestock for monsters, these kids were being raised for slave trade or something that's a little bit realistic. But still that was one hell of an episode.

Oh this was amazing. The art, the animation, the music, the voice acting was all on point.

They spent the whole 1st episode just adapting the 1st chapter, i dunno how they gonna cram the 36 chapters left of this arc into 11 episodes tho. That's 3+ chapters per episode, hope they don't rush it or cut too much cause this arc was fuckin great.

As was the case with several users, the plot twist had already been spoiled to me but, man, I was not expecting those big monsters. This looks scary and I already feel sorry for the kids even though I don't know anything about the world yet; where could they go? My first impression is that the monsters are the rulers and humans are just... food
