There been few more where I disliked main cast a lot and would have enjoyed Anime much more without them. But I cannot remember any other ones at the moment. Whilst funnily enough opposite is kinda same. There been few Anime where hateable main characters make Anime more enjoyable. |

| Well since you want a rant :P It has to be One Piece (Luffy, I can never click with this choice of character...his very presence and way of doing things is nothing short of obnoxious. Simply unbearable after a point of time). Seven Deadly Sins (Meliodas....to this idiot I say, don't talk about 'doing the right things and respecting people' with a serious face when you are busy molesting that equally dumb chick called Elizabeth elsewhere, for no good reason. The supposed humor/comedy element just fell flat. Had Meliodas been a perv + un-serious from the start, the antics would have been tolerable). Mahouka Kouko no Rettosei (Brother Tatsuya is overpowered to the point of being absolutely bland and boring in the anime. The supposed character development and growth never happened.) Zero no Tsukaima ( Louise ruined the tsundere character trope for me... although she did get marginally better in the final season). |

| Personally, I'm ok with most types of MCs, as long as they are not constantly weak-spined and fit with the type of story they act in. A type of MC I loathe is the one found in many harem/harem-like and romance anime: weak-willed, bland, generic voice and looks, too nice, dominated and trampled by a female lead and not fighting back against women hitting them. An example is the MC in Gosick. Another one is Yukiteru from Mirai Nikki. An example of a stronger character that I dislike nonetheless is the MC from Black Bullet: shonen-like in character, not interesting (other than being a cyborg) and exists simply to attract lewd lolis and president-chan ladies. A protagonist from a harem-like anime DONE RIGHT in my opinion is Kazuma from Konosuba: he is cunning, intelligent and flawed enough to be special, but nice in special circumstances. He also doesn't hesitate to defend himself against women and fights pragmatically against foes. |

| @DepravedMagi I don't know about the anime but I'm currently playing the VN and Chizuru hasn't annoyed me so far. I mean, she is pretty useless in battle but it'd be unnatural if she wasn't given her lack of swordsmanship background and the fact that Shinsengumi are one of the best swordsmen in Kyoto. I don't know, she is pretty bland (like one would expect from an otome protag) but not particularly bad imo. What did you dislike about her? OT: First one to come to mind is Isshuukan Friends. Really didn't like Hase. He was loud, annoying and acted like a selfish child. |

| Boku No Hero-deku is easily the most boring and generic Shōnen MC. Don't give a shit about him, so the things he does in the show has 0 impact on me. Sister Princess-Emo AF protagnist dragged the show down. No Game No Life-the arrogance of the main characters were annoying AF. White Album 2-what the MC did in the last episode of the show was disgusting AF, and turned a decent show into a garbage one. |

| Currently I'm watching Blue Gender, which really suffers from this problem. I enjoy the conflict between Earth, Second Earth, and the invading Blue, I find it thought provoking and interesting, plus there are dystopian elements which I am also fond of. But the main character Yuji is willfully ignorant and does whatever he wants despite not understanding the situation humanity is in. In my opinion an important characteristic of a character thrown into an unfamilliar society is the ability to choose their battles, and observe which norms have been adopted for good reason and which ones should be challenged. Yuji challenges everything and disrupts Second Earth's plans constantly. Yes, they're a flawed future society but they also are the humans with the best chance of preserving the most of humanity so it's really frustrating for the main character to be so antagonistic to them. |

I really liked so many aspects of Euphonium as a show, but by the end of episode 2, I was so pissed off at Kumiko that I couldn't focus on anything else. If she was a supporting character, I probably would've finished the show and rated it highly, but I just couldn't deal with her as the lead I'm supposed to sympathize with |
