What would it take for you to stop watching anime?

I'm getting older now... I'm in my mid-20's, but I still love watching anime and even keep up with seasonals. I'm really liking Middle Manager Tongegawa, Jojo pt.5, Golden Kamuy 2 and Index 3. I'm working a full-time job, a long with a part-time job and I have to worry about my car and relationships and trying to maintain a social life in general. I can't help, but think though would it ever get to a point where I just stop watching anime or what it would take for me to stop watching. Like maybe if work got too crazy or like I suddenly became really religious, or like internet just died everywhere. I feel like a lot more people also just age out of it.

Honestly I can't say for myself, most likely when I start having a family, but what about everyone else? What do you think it would take for you to stop watching anime?

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

I'm never going to stop and I'm almost 30. If I have a family I'm going to force my kid to watch anime. Simple as that.

I consider my life to be more important than anime so if life does not give me the time to watch then I will stop watching it.

Nothing. It’s a hobby and I’ve always managed to find time for it no matter how busy I am, usually a couple Of hours a day . I see no reason to give it up and especially not for other people.

Not too much.

I mean, I love anime, but it's not 100% necessary for me to live and enjoy life. I enjoy quite a lot of different mediums, including asian drama, manga, music, novels etc which can potentially fill the void.

I used to be more addicted, but I changed.

I probably won't ever stop watching it completely, just less often. I'm already unable to watch anime too often because of my job, but I do watch it occasionally when I have free time.

Time. Devoting more time to God or family could possibly do it. I wouldn’t want to have so much time wrapped up in work that I don’t have free time if I can help it, but the former two are different.

That being said, I don’t see myself losing interest in the medium anytime soon, and there’s definitely nothing inherently evil about anime as a medium of entertainment. Even if my life gets super busy and I have to stop for some time, who knows. Maybe I’ll end up watching anime with my wife or kids one day.

Then again, I can’t predict the future. For all I know I’ll lose interest as I grow older.

None of the above. Rather, the combo of anime itself and the difficulty finding stuff that's remotely interesting. It's like one or two per season if I'm lucky these days...

I've watched anime for around 2-3 years now. I've watched more than 5 months worth of anime and I have no regrets.

Norhing stops my friends who are married to watch a lot of netfix shows and they have a baby. So I will always find time to watch an anime episode, at least one per week.

As someone in his 50's, getting old/older is not really a valid condition to stop watching anime.

There's really only like 3 things that would make me unwillingly stop watching anime.
Blindness, Death, or Incarceration.

Anything else would just be a choice or priority in favor of something other than anime.
You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Sorry if my sarcasm is bad, it's not my first language.

A demanding lifestyle is not a reason enough for me to stop watching anime. I've been managing to watch it even though I'm studying two majors, working half-time and tutoring 2 girls in English and German. Sure, I've been watching less, but I am not giving up on it any time soon. Maybe if I get older and grow out of it... in 10 years or so.

Loosing interest is a main reason to stop watching anime.
I'm already ignore seasonals and only watch new seasons of old anime I like.

Like the bare minimum would be enough money that I can fill the void with gaming but even then that's a stretch because I'd much rather balance 2 hobbies than focus entirely on one.
I would never take on a relationship or a job that made it impossible to enjoy myself which pretty much rules out family. Getting older doesn't really apply since I've watched anime for almost 20 years and still actively enjoy it.

I think I won't stop watching anime untill I think this is it. But I don't think that I will consider something and stop watching anime. I may take a long break but I will continue after it . For example : I will be going on a 2yr break now since it will be my 11th and 12 th. The amount of time I spend on it now is just tremendous. But even when I am on a break I will see sequels of my favorite animes.
So I don't think anything will be able to separate me and anime.

Nothing, or if i'll then probably the closest one is getting older. I don't know about this, but maybe later i'll lose interest on anime bit by bit. later, when anime started to change towards the way i don't like it to be.

Only death will stop me. I find no reason to drop a hobby I like and since I like watching anime as much as I like watching movies and playing video games from a really young age, age isn't going to stop me either.

For me its because i'm getting older = less and less time.
Girlfriend, job , university, family.
But i'll always find little time to read manga or watch 1-2 shows I love per season.
I guess it helps when your significant other likes anime too so u can watch together. But even if she didn't like it I'd still find time for myself to watch JoJo or something I love.

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Burnout. Seeing the same tropes and plot points again and again is not entertaining.

Isekai after isekai gets old after a while. Most people start anime and stop it when they turn into adults not because they think it's immature or anything but because they become smarter, start seeing all of these tropes get recycled over and over again, and stop watching anime.

I read visual novels instead. I can't binge one anime a day like I used to anymore.

— Getting Older

I have been watching anime for as long as I can remember so I will probably never grow out of it.

— Getting a demanding job

I'm already busy as hell with university but I can always manage to fit at least an episode every day. If not, I always read manga in-between periods, it a all works out.

— Starting a family
— For the sake of a relationship

I would never date or marry a woman who did not accept the fact that I like anime. If I did have kids, I would get them into anime with me lmao (not that dodgy ecchi stuff, like normal anime first).

— If OP told me to stop

Yes, of course, daddy.

— Religion

I'm not religious

— Only death can tear me away from my precious korean cartoons

Iunno, boredom, lack of interest in anything. It's not like I've zealously watched it for a while now, anyway, I do so kinda sparingly at this point.

It's always been a sort of "do it whenever I feel like it" type thing, like most entertainment is to me. One I like a lot, but admittedly I've kind of had trouble getting into new things for a few months now with anime. It's been hard to feel like there's anything I'm truly interested in anymore. Which is bullshit, admittedly - there's a ton of stuff I wanna see still and haven't seen, but I've kind of been in a bog with wanting to actively look for said things or even pick up the ones I know that I want to see.

I've been thinking of picking up more manga of anime series I really liked watching, since I've been really rooted in thinking about series I've seen already and looking back on the ones I really liked for a while now, but it's so awkward to read on a screen for me. I'm a bit of a physical copy purist with books, and I don't wanna spend money >_< That's a hurdle I'll have to adapt to at some point, I guess.

it's like someone decides to stop watching movies even though good things come out every year.

It's impossible, you might stop watching Anime seasonal and start watching 5-6 animes a year or even watching 1 anime a year and so. you've watched over 3,000 goddamn. so it's impossible for you to stop, maybe a sequel of one anime will come out that you liked so much before, you will watch it for the nostalgia, maybe you won't binge it but you will at least watch 1 episode per week.
