| I think it's becoming obvious that CGI is becoming more and more prevalent in the majority of new anime these days. It's hard to look anywhere and not find it implemented in some way. Most of the time somewhat poorly, aside from anime movies and ovas which do a much better job (Berserk golden age OVAS, Kara no Kyoukai, Heaven's feel to name a few). But Gridman is proving that as long as these studios aren't complete lazy, CGI could work for regular anime. In just three episodes it's already improved to the point where I don't mind it in the slightest. Would you be alright with more CGI in anime if studios are willing to put the work in, or do you still think anime is better off without it entirely? |
| South Park is pure CGI. I think it has more to do with computing power becoming so fast and software becoming better that it's cheaper and faster to do the cgi. Even with cgi animators being paid more and hand animators being paid peanuts. The main problem is the cgi engines are made to create realistic objects with light sources and physics for movies, and not for anime style animation. Since there is only money in movies, and not tv anime, it will always be this way. No one will develop an entire engine for $100. |
