For the country - certainly no, for the people - I may reconsider.

@Magrael I have some German roots but my grampa had to hide it in case of a backlash. I can't do anything about my origins, I try to be a law abiding citizen and that's it. Not worth dying for.

Absofuckinglutely not.

If I lived in a place I could have any pride of being from, it may be a different story.

Nah, my country doesn't deserve anything of that sort. In fact, we had a war ~25 years ago and many people, including some of my family mambers, died. If you ask people who fought back then about their thoughts, most will say they regret ever fighting and that it was not worth the lives that were lost.

That's cute.

Human extinction will happen anyway without a World War III. It's not like we're causing a mass extinction with our reckless behavoir anyway. You know deforestation, melting ice caps & rising sealevels, desertification, acidification of the oceans, plastic pollution, CO2 pollution, overpopulation, poaching of species, ... :-)

Source: I do happen to know quite a bit about mass extinctions. Rocks don't lie. :-)

As for your OP's question: No, thanks. Belgium is already crumbling by corrupt politicians.

Nope, I wouldn't. If they forced me then I would go to another country that wasn't involved in the war.

I'm from Bangladesh. My maternal Grand Father was a freedom fighter. He survived the war like a champ and passed away naturally few years ago. He used to tell me about the events of 1971 which I loved to hear and his stories was enough for me to get how much he loved his country. My country, as it is now at the moment, isn't worth dying for. But who knows? I might change my mind if my death can save this country and it's people.

I'm joining the military soon, so I guess that answers the question. Although in this day and age you never really die for your country.

I would die for my country, but I would die against my country, for my government is to be consensual between citizens.

This will sound terribly selfish but the thought of DYING for a bunch of ignorant strangers I don't even know in a country I'm already embarrassed over....

F*ck nope. XD

In my country, we have a pretty intense nationalism building since we were in elementary school. But since i graduated from highschool. My point of view just change instantly. Lots of hidden history and dark past that make the nationalism just "gone"

I'd die for my country for sure. Even if it was a worst country to live in, I'd rather keep it safe and peace.

WW1 and WW2 were fought because Germany wanted a 1 world order. I am morally against that totalitarianism so I would fight against that end. The German people were swayed by carefully cultivated by politics, and the economy. Its hard for me to imagine how so many were swayed into hatred and domination, but it happened.
For me, if the US was invaded (However unlikely, "there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass " ) I would fight to repel those invaders. If I was asked to invade another country, that I would refuse. One should never trust their government, but watch with careful pride.

I never really feel attached to my country.. regardless, the definition of a country is too large for me. And to die for? I never think to that extent.

If a country's government order citizens to die for their country in an affair or circumstance, it sure the country will be labeled as horrific in international look. Obviously, they will be thinking about another way.

only my opinion :)

Hell no, I would feel a little bit bad tough because of what happened to Poland previously but it's not worth it. I'm not even living there anymore.

It's better this way.

I was going to sign up for the air force, then I got glasses. If we go to war, I’ll probably enlist if I don’t have family and such.

Protect your country against foreign invaders? Probably, but I'm sure they'll have better recruits to choose from compared to choosing an out-of-shape average joe. Definitely would not die for my country overseas for a battle which probably doesn't even directly affect me.

Retards in what way? Is germany susceptible to influence from foreign ideologies? I plan to invade Germany one day so all anecdotal info helps

While I would say that it is, that's not the reason why there are so many idiots around here. That's more of a selfmade problem xD

The question is wrong. It should be ''Would you die for the people in your country?'' because you can't say you'll die for the country itself, but for the people that live in it.
And my answer is no.
My country is beautiful, but the people that live here are close-minded, so no. Why would I wanna die for people that I can't care less about?
