I'll try to collate all the albums and singles that has been recommended already in the thread, according to the order it has been posted. I'm still thinking of a plan of how to make the list more accessible and easy for newcomers in the genre, we could categorize the list according to subgenre or year, idk. Please let me know. |

| Outside "conservative" city pop like taeko ohnuki (and some stuff from her contemporary like mikie matsubara, hiromi iwasaki, mariya takeuchi and junko ohashi) , i like techno kayo which predominantly produced by ex ymo Miharu koshi Susan Chiemi Manabe Akiko Yano I dont really clicked with male singing in city pop, the like esessential Tatsuro yamashita. except i guess his collabs or 'behind the scene" with other, like with his wife mariya takeuchi and his time with taeko (also early in Sugar babe) is a must tho' Most of the mainstream, old jpop from 80s is not really offer much album wise, i guess. more worthy as singles, track wise, like akina nakamori or seiko matsuda |

| A City Pop thread! What a nice surprise. I discovered this genre last year and i'm very addicted to it. Like a good portion of the fans, my first contact with City Pop was through Plastic Love singed by Mariya Takeuchi, it's been a rabbit hole since and it's already my favorite genre. |

| Ahh, now this is my favourite genre and I'm the right person to talk to about it lol. I have a whole iPod with just city pop songs (3k+ songs last time I checked and I'm still finding more stuff) and it makes for a good soundtrack whilst driving. Tatsuro Yamashita is probably my favourite artist 'cause he did make my favourite Japanese song. Speaking of Takako Mamiya, I do wish she made more music since she basically instant transmitted like she was Goku after Love Trip lol.
