Which anime do you think will take over #1 spot from FMA:B in near future? Is it finished airing or not even made yet?

Probably whatever Shinkai pulls out the bag next, at least for some period of time.

This, or an actually good Berserk adaptation (if they make it in the future), based on the top manga.

even though I think fmab is the greatest thing to come out of Japan Jojo's part 7 stands a good chance, whenever that gets adapted

FMAB is on the first place for almost 9 years. I don't see any reason it's gonna change in the near future.

Mark my words, once people discover the awesomeness of "Uchuusen Sagittarius," it'll be #1 for sure!

Isekai Quartet, whenever that comes out, will be met with nothing short of absolutely high critical marks and record breaking sales, so I'm predicting that
Harem&Ecchi Club - Events, Weekly Picture Updates, Recommendations, Discord Server with lots of lewds, all that good stuff.

When they make a Yotsuba& adaptation, it will be the best anime ever made. Easy first spot.

Evangelion Angelic Days, a romcom with your favorite douchbags from eva set in school with lots of panties and implied sex. Anno seal of approval.

How could it be underrated?

I've never watched it, but I saw a couple of episodes of the original FMA back when it first aired on TV here in Canada, and I hated it, so I can't see Brotherhood being any better.

Was it due to the art style or the story and characters?

A little of all of those things. I didn't like the character designs, but I also found it weird. The action scenes were not my cup of tea. Weird things coming out of the ground and people's hands and stuff.

Hmm i think it'll be number 1 forever. To me it's a perfect series and it has mass appeal. It's not too "anime", so even people who aren't big anime fans can enjoy it.
Without love, it cannot be seen.

Ohh I see. I think you should give it another chance, it's one of the few post-2000 shows I've seen where I could find the same type of "heart" put into pre-2000 shows.

Most of the post-2000 shows that I actually like are typically kids shows, like the Precure franchise.

FMA just seems really weird to me. I mean, the guy's metal hand turns into weird shit, and that freaks me out. I don't like it.

Not even made yet is what I think.

The thought of it being a "Boku no hero academia" or "Jojo" season fills me with despair.

I would however not mind if that spot is inherited by a member of the "Toaru" franchise, either "Majutsu no Index, Kagaku no Railgun or the new one coming out.

I mean FMAB just in the past like 2 years almost lost the top spot on two occasions.

If I were to wager a guess unless the next season of Gintama is just terrible it could be the season that takes it. Granted the last time Gintama tied FMAB a legion of fan boys appeared either downvoting or upvoting both entries.

It's gonna be some shounen action series with amazing BnHA S3esc soundtrack and a wide range of characters

And it's also gonna be 50+ eps

So basically Black Clover

It's also gotta have more fans then FMA/HxH/Gintama that create multiple alt accounts to give 1's to every other competitor
'On-Hold' is another way for a completionist to say 'Dropped'

somebody (who i assume is banned) made a point on the malwiki that one piece is a strong contender for 1st. as mal uses the 1/5 rule once it ends, even if we assume at ep 1000, means that scores of people who have only seen 200 eps will be counted. anyone who hated the show from the start would not have watched that far so their votes won't be counted. only people who dropped it after that milestone would be counted but they would obviously be in the small minority as most of the major naysayers would not have watched so deep. of course we know OP will probably go well past 1000, and people could just lie on their list, but their point made sense to me given what is known about the rating system; maybe there is a check for something like this that is either implemented but not known widespread or is to be implemented in the future. same applies to conan, and i guess shows like sazae-san but it doesnt have nearly as much watchers on mal specifically. @ me if someone knows more about this

Literally never. Even before FMAB aired, FMA 2003 was the second highest rated anime TV series only to death note. The FMA franchise, in general, is so well beloved that I can't see anything like that happening again in the near future.

One of the BNHA series.

Speaking of BNHA series, why hasn't it come up on MAL's popular anime yet? I thought it would be listed there by now due to massive popularity and fanbase it's getting.

The future no. 1 will likely remain FMAB. The only anime it might lose to is JoJo Part 7: Steel Ball Run.
