| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The show is back and along with group, Hanji is back to her energetic self again :D Now that everyone is on the same page again, I guess it's time for them to make their next move. Reflecting back to what happened before, I think Eren realizes the stakes. It felt like a buildup episode with some important narratives and background storytelling. |

"He's already great. Because he was born into this world." We got to learn more about Shadis and how he met with Grisha, who seems to have come from the outside. Also, the music was used really well during this episode. And Mikasa didn't seem content.  |

| Wow, that's episode was really intriguing, and emotionally investing for me. Everything pretty much back to normal, besides Historia, I actually chuckled when Mikasa appeared like that, Eren is the same as always about her though. The backstory of Shardis' was really interesting, a lot of clearance about his part in the story and Eren's father, it was great seeing Eren's mother again. Some tears fell from my eyes in the scene when the ending song started playing, it was beautiful. |

| Great episode. Hahaha, that Mikasa stare when Eren was walking with Historia. XD Pretty heavy backstory episode. We learnt a little about Grisha, Eren's father and it looks like he's from outside the wall, very similar to Reiner and co but he doesn't seem to remember anything else. Apart from that one fact, most of the other information seems to relate to Shadis himself and how Grisha influenced his life. Wonder how I never realized till today that Eren's Mom was actually really pretty. XD Loved her reply to Shadis, "He's already special, because he was born into this world". Beautiful. :) Nice throwback to the scene where Eren's equipment during training was broken. So it was actually Shadis? Interesting. Loved the outro with the ED song playing in the background. Looking forward to next week, time to retake the wall? |

| Great episode, specially the second half. I I really have to re-read the manga, because it's incredible how much subtle foreshadowing there is here of stuff that's to come much later in the story. Isayama really knew where he was going to end up all along. Powerful stuff. One thing the anime does great compared to the manga is make character designs more attractive. Eren's mom looked smoking hot! No wonder Shadis never got over it. |

| Shadis revealed so much of himself and Grisha that married Carla. Becoming the best he could be. Shadis trying to save Eren from blood and death by messing up his equipment. A bystander who couldn't do anything, but tried too everything he could do. |

| Little by little we are getting more information about the big puzzle, this series does really well in that. So it was no coincidence that Eren's equipment was the one broken, it was Shadis all along. Great episode, usually flashback episodes are most of the time pretty boring, but Attack on Titan never disappoints. |
| Perfect Episode in my eyes. The way they handled the flashback was absolutely perfect. So in love with the soundtrack of this anime. So many great moments in this Episode. Grisha lost his memories and doesn't remember why he was outside of the Walls.. hmm. Sadies, seeking for Glory, attempting to become someone special, someone that doesn't just sit around and accepts his fate. He finally becomes the Commander of the Survey Corps but soon realizes that this was nothing like he ever imagined it to be. He then gives command to Erwin after seeing his failures and how many people have lost their lives because of his command. He realized there are special people in this world.. but he's not one of them. Seeing all the patients being so thankful to Grisha for saving them was amazing. He then gets married with Carla and she becomes pregnant with Eren. You could tell how mentally fucked Sadies was when he started screaming at Carla. He was so desperate to change something in this piece of shit world. I think at one side he was jealous towards them because he was in love with Carla. And at the other side hes just angered that they live so happy in this pile of shit world without any concern or seek of a better life. Carla's saying about how Eren doesn't need to become someone special, to be born in this world already makes him special enough, was so heartwarming. I think that changed Eren's mindset too. He seemed relieved at the end. So they finally started riding towards Shiganshina/Wall Maria. I wonder what awaits them. Lots of rumors about a split cour which would mean that next week is the last Episode. Nothing confirmed though so let's wait until next week I guess. |
| A slower episode, but a pleasant surprise to get some backstory on the commandant after all this time, made even better by tying it into the ever-growing complex narrative. Most interesting for me was the fact that Grisha just kinda came out of nowhere with no memories when he was first found outside the walls, so I have to wonder what's actually going on there, as there's surely far more to that than what this episode told us. Certainly a narrative hook I hope to see followed through on in due course. |

| Historia sure looks more at home caring for kids than for a country. Mikasa's expression there though sure was scary. While losing a lot of the old loyalists they at least gained some new weapons like that log contraption the executioner from hell. Its nice that they got new blood within the scouts. The manner of how Grisha entered this world was quite unique. But he sure made quite the impact once he got used to life inside. It was surprising how intertwined he was with Eren's parents though. A slow episode but one that provided plenty of interesting revelations about Eren's parents. |

| I thought this flashback would be included in season 2 as its final episode, but they didn't give us two cours. Still, seeing this makes me forgive everything. I am kind of sad they cut out the part where Erwin was just being awesome. I love angry Hange!! Carla saying that Eren doesn't need to be special made me kind of emotional, again. I never noticed it in the manga, and almost missed it here, but there were a few death flags this episode. Isayama's death flags are too subtle and hard to notice. I wondered how they were planning to fit the whole flashback in this episode. Well, I guess I know now. Are we going to get a new opening now? I am not yet ready. This is my favourite SnK opening song till now. I don't care if the ending song gets changed. |

Seems like Eren's dad was a good dude, but I'm guessing at some point he started to remember some things from before he was found outside the walls. That's probably what caused him to go on to do all the things he did. It was a really nice touch how they showed that it was Keith who actually tampered with Eren's gear during training. That's the kinda thing where you wonder if it was planned from the start or if the writer was just able to add it in conveniently later on. |

| Damn, Grisha reminded me SO MUCH of Dr. Tenma from Monster in that one scene where he said everything will be okay. Truly amazing. A good episode overall, and even tho it was short, I'm glad they at least mentioned the hardening experiments that they were supposed to like 10 episodes ago.. |

The author already said he has everything planned. and there is way more of those foreshadowing to come in later seasons, this is why I say the rewatch value of this series is better once you learn more details. |

| Eren and Historia walking together and Mikasa got jealous! Be careful Mikasa! xD She stared at them with a really scary eyes! Historia doing a perfect work as quen, she really cares about needy ones! Really nice to know more about Grisha past with this backstory, another mistery is to know from where Grisha came from! Carla saying that Eren is already special for born in this world was really wonderful and heartwarming! So was Keith who broke eren equipment during training! |

| Well that was a very interesting episode. A few more details about Eren's father and I definitely didn't expect the instructor to have sabotaged his ODM gear back in season 1. I guess after that he decided Eren actually was special and then let him become a soldier after all. There was also a lot of build up for this next arc. Hype! Meanwhile Historia is still maintaining her awesomeness from the last few episodes and it's almost indescribable how much better she is now than in the previous seasons. I don't know if it's because she's been separated from Ymir but I like her more and more with each episode. Her interactions with Eren are just so adorable. Mikasa not looking too happy about it though. This would definitely be the ship if she didn't exist but I can't wait to see what happens regardless. |
