Very happy for the new Railgun anime, since the manga should be advanced enough to avoid the boring fillers that plagued the two previous seasons. Also more Misaki so 👍

I really hope so. There two complete Railgun Arc that can be adapted, and the two Railgun side stories that were included with the Index japanese blue-rays.

I am surprised this is being announced so fast. I was expecting an announcement after Index III finished airing.

Guys I have a question, currently I'm watching Index s1. Do I have to watch Railgun series after that or can I skip it? Also, I heard that Railgun s1 is mostly like a filler but Railgun s2 is important, is this true?

Also, good thing that we are getting a 3rd spin-off season beside Accelerator's spin off too :3

I would say you don't have to watch Railgun if you don't want to. The Railgun anime is enjoyable, though the first Railgun season leans very heavily of the slice of life of girls aspect.

Railgun s1 only has about 8 episodes that draw from the source material, with episode 12 being the last one to draw from canon. That Arc helps links certain incidents in Index together if you look deeply enough, but you won't lose anything if you don't watch it. The last 4 episodes are an anime original Arc that ends the first season on a solid note.

Railgun s2 is mostly the Sister's Arc again told from Mikoto's perspective, along with backstory about how Accelerator got involved. If you want more details about that Arc and want to see it again with better animation, Railgun s2 will not disappoint. Then there is an anime original arc that I consider the worst Arc across both Index and Railgun seasons.

This is just all my opinion of course.

What a bunch of sellouts; according to the staff of the current reboot of the series they were merely aiming for fanservice approval instead of a new approach. But it keeps at least some studios alive...
