| It was ok I guess if you skip past the rape scene it was fine for a pilot episode I don't really like the CGI but I give the episode a 5/10 experience. |

| So this was that infamous first episode everyone talks about... for sure it held onto its reputation. And i must day I'm not disappointed a bit. Already invested enough. |

| Absolutely brutal. I was getting ready to cringe when she brought up the question "are there any good goblins" as she saw the goblin children. I was like oh no, she's going to change the goblin slayer's heart to make him show mercy. Thanks goodness he just proceeds to slaughter them with a club. Like what is going on in your head after you see people you know get brutally torn apart and raped and then proceed to wonder "maybe there's good goblins!!!" Thankfully, goblin slayer gives zero fucks. Goblins are usually portrayed as some low-level monsters in these anime; and that is still mostly the case here. However they did a good job of portraying them as rather terrifying actually. But what's even more terrifying is the Goblin Slayer himself. Just watched The Batman a few weeks ago, and Goblin Slayer has pretty much the same introduction, echoing footsteps, slowly emerging from the darkness. Heck yeah. I actually watched this first episode over a year ago just to see what all the fuss was about, but didn't go any further because one review I watched said that afterwards it just descends into your typical mediocre fantasy trope type stuff. I think it was Charlie's aka Moist's review. But now I'm actually curious if that's entirely true. So the question is, does it continue to be as good as this first episode, or not? Fingers crossed that the rest is at least half as riveting as this first episode was. |

| Ah yes, Goblin Slayer... the anime with the most controversial first episode. I had heard of how cruel and brutal the first episode was, but man, seeing with my own eyes, it did not disappoint. This is just a nitpick, but damn, that Priestess got some balls. How tf would anyone after going through that experience want to go goblin slaying ever again? It is not mentioned that she had any exposure to that type of stuff in the past, and I also don't think it will be a part of her backstory, which means she's just like a normal kid with a normal childhood, with a normal mentality, thus the reason she was so shaken up. Any average person after witnessing that would have had some PTSD of entering caves in general or something. Either way, she got balls, and I respect that. Either way, Goblin Slayer seems like a cool mc now. He doesn't sugarcoat things and his actions seem logical at the moment. He doesn't seem like a goody-two-shoes of a mc so that's a breath of fresh air for once. |

Graduated High School in May of 2022. Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have once again regained the power of a new anime fan, being able to watch multiple anime episodes in a day. Time to binge-watch every single anime I can into the night until college arrives. SADGE. SUPER SADGE... College has begun as of Monday, August 30, 2022, so you won't be seeing me much around these parks. See you on weekends, I guess... School me is back. Sigh! I'll at least try for one anime a day with all this course load. |

Also, that sorceress. Even if she has a stab wound, I'd still do her. Anyway, I remember when people used to talk about how graphic & disturbing this ep is. It's acceptable for me. It was enough to give me a hard on. I wish the r*pe scene was a bit longer, but that'd be hentai at that point. |

| I'm not entirely sure why I dropped this one after five episodes, in 2019, but I decided to give it a second try now after liking the manga. The first episode was so well written and directed it went by in a flash. It wasn't quite masterpiece niveau, but it had the mark of someone who knows what they're doing, and I happen to crave a more serious fantasy story atm. My hope is that this mark will manifest throughout the entire season. |

| Feels good to be rewatching good ol Goblin Slayer before the new season comes out, it’s one I haven’t seen since it originally dropped back in Fall 2018, it was before I started doing MAL posts so you won’t find any posts of mine from that time but I was definitely there every week for this one, it was also the first anime season where I used LiveChart to pick from the whole list of new seasonal anime, good times man lol. But this first episode is as wild as I remember, i remember it making waves back then and that’s evident from the amount of posts on this thread. It really does suck what happens to that rookie party, the music and the panic is really well done, such a chaotic sequence once it starts, but damn does it feel good seeing the Goblin Slayer mercilessly kill all the goblins after the fact, and you have the Priestess’ reactions to all of it which ties it all together. It’s such a damn good first episode and even after coming back to it all these years later I’m still certain of that, looking forward to the rest of this nostalgic rewatch! |
| This anime is definitely infamous for having the balls to display disturbing imagery and introduce to chracters we were about to like, in just the 1st episode alone. |
| Wow, what a first episode! I only read the synopsis and did not expect such graphic depictions. I do like how the Goblin Slayer does not sugar coat anything he says and does. The priestess was very fortunate that she was mostly unharmed (except for the arrow through her shoulder) but it sucks that 2 of her party members died. |
| That was one hilarious episode wth. The goblins remind me of the ones in Grimgar but damn how furious the one in Goblin Slayer compared to those in Grimgar are way different. I liked the Two steps from hell ost, it fits what happened in the end when GS killed the young goblins |
