Wow! What an Amazing Episode!
So, Luffy got in really bad situation with Awakened Katakuri, Jerma beat THE HELL UP the weaklings of Big Mom Pirates.
Pekoms CRYING about Pedro's Death and Tamago Danshaku Explains WHY LUFFY IS A BIG THREAT TO BIG MOM! everything is because pedro did that... What a MAN!
ANDnd here I clearly forgot what was the Weakness of Katakuri! He is FODD!!!! Luffy can just Munch his way to beat him!! You can do it! Don't give Up!!!
I love how Katakuri destroys shonen tropes... "you think I'm just gonna sit and watch while you power up to your ultimate form??" lol
the next episode is going to be amazing, just watch~
Finally, Luffy is dead. One Piece can end before episode 900.
I am expecting for a second season.
Luffy's secret child sets sail to the Grand Line: "I will be the pirate king!"
I love Katakuri so much. I think he's one of my favorite villains, if you even can call him a "villain", cuz I don't really see him that way as he's just trying to protect his family. I like how he always acts on pure logic, like exactly, why would you even wait for your opponent to finish his upgrade? lol
Aside from that, I felt like this episode was better paced that other recent One Piece episodes. Recently I just feel like just one minute of a whole episode really matters and the rest is just filler, but this episode I felt like a lot of important conversations/events happened, so I found it more enjoyable to watch.
I know what's going to happen next, but I'm really excited to see the next episode. I won't spoil anything but I'll just say that there is gonna be a great twist ;)
Was a good episode. I mean at least Luffy is able to dodge some of Katakuris attacks. When Katakuri was transforming things into Mochi, the fight against Do Flamingo was the first which came into my mind. I also had to laugh when he didn't want to wait for Luffy to transform. Pretty rare to see that from an villain.
To bad that the preview spoilert how Luffy will escape out of the Mochi but I guess Katakuris face will be priceless. :D
Finally the Germa was also able to beat their enemies. Niji definitely has a useful ability by imitating voices.
It has really been a long time since we have seen all parts of Luffy's body stretching. What an intense fight. I would love to see awakening of Luffy's devil fruit. Making everything around him to rubber. The thought of it is intense, so how must the real power be? Katakuri is strong as ever and fighting with no mercy. So the secret behind his devil fruit and foreseen power may be revealed next week? Interesting.
Germa force is strong as ever. Luffy's crew having them as an ally would bring them a big advantage to the last fight that may will come in the future. I guess it's him against the world. :D Hopefully, the cake is ready. Interesting how this will turn out once big Mom eats it. xD
Luffy hasn't landed even one hit on the guy, touching his lance is a major deal with him. Goes to show how much difference in strength between the two, I mean Katakuri even has time to eat.
Didn't even give him time to transform like other guys Luffy fought.
How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb --- Dr Strangelove
Finally breaking the villain cliche, that was the highlight of this episode. I've been wondering why Luffy didn't use Gear 4th from like 3-4 episodes ago. I feel like he wants to prove that he can beat someone that as not as strong as Big mon but we already know he can get stronger than that so...why taking so long to do it?
I don't typically read manga so if I get anything right please don't tell me.
Almost all the episode was about the fighting. For a moment I tought that the fighting was boring but it turnes somehow better and then Luffy is finished. As a character Katakuri is really cool but I don't like his devil fruit. Waiting for Germa's come back, it looks that they're gonna give the mugiwaras a hand.
Katakuri defiling the sacred anime villain trope; thou shall wait for the protagonist to power up and thus leading thou to inevitable defeat. Katakuri! What are you doing?!! Why did you have to break the sacred rule like that? Have you no shame?
I don't know if I should be rooting for Germa or Big Mom's group. But considering Germa's circumstances and the potential help they may bring to the table, go Germa!
It is cool that Katakuri denied the shounen trope of watching the opponent's power up, however, the fact that immediately after suggesting he is not underestimating Luffy, he turned and performed the stupidest villain trope of them all by leaving Luffy to his own devices and assuming he was dead, that was frustrating as all hell. I honestly wouldn't have minded if he didn't do the first half of this by stating how genre-savvy he is; even if in universe he simply meant he saw the future, there is a meta contextual component. Just because it's a good time to bring it up, my favourite instance of the villain leaving the hero to die rather than double-tapping is characters like Crocodile or Dio Brando from Phantom Blood who have a built in character flaw of arrogance, and are making a statement that they are above their opponent as they leave them to die in an extravagant way. But that's just that, a character flaw! This is a really tiny thing to talk about, again I really don't care, and perhaps Katakuri is arrogant despite the amount he states he is respecting Luffy’s strength. I just found it somewhat frustrating to have those two decisions back-to-back, the second undoing the value of the first in my opinion.
Other than that, I admit that most of this fight could be done in like an episode. In my head I am imagining a focused episode on this conflict rather than bread crumbs and only the moments of substantial advancement rather than so much of Luffy getting beat up and or dodging. However, I do think each of these segments have introduced just that, a new bread crumb of information. By seeing Katakuri’s perspective on how Luffy would change the future that he envisioned and make it incredibly hard to land hits, it proved to me that Katakuri wasn't really playing with his food as much as I was assuming. Following this, it makes his comments questioning how Luffy would like to die more interesting. I viewed it as nothing more than intimidation or posturing which made sense at the time, but now it doesn't appear that way, and the fact that he has done it twice feels notable to me. Our man even showed respect to Luffy by stating that, although Luffy is the one taking the beating, he is fatigued as well having never fought against someone who dodged him like this. By implementing both of these aspects to his character, my dwindling understanding of him has been erased and I'm back at square one.
Beyond that, the elephant in the room is more awakened devil fruit powers! The decision to give Doflamingo the power to use his awakening is one of the decisions that I find most questionable, out of nowhere he does this elaborate thing that attempts to make him even stronger and cooler but in reality, it just feels cheap and a little dumb due to the sudden nature of throwing that on us to extend the fight. My friend agreed and we both somewhat hoped that it would never come up again, but I did fear that Luffy would end up winning this fight by activating his awakening. It is a power up that is established within the universe and could serve as the gear 5 of sorts... I'll stay open minded, there have been times where I hated something Oda did only to later change my mind.
To speak more of respect between enemies, I particularly loved the scene with Pekoms, and Tamago’s argument with Mont d'Or. Firstly, we finally saw the emotional ramifications Pedro’s sacrifice had on Pekoms. He was wailing and crying for his big bros sake, it goes to show that, while Pekoms does work in really shady business, he has so much love to give. To his friends, his people, his brothers, his saviors. I really love the fact that he isn’t perfectly selfless for his friends like Bon Clay could be construed as, not that it’s bad to do so, Bon Clay is one of my favorites. Rather, it’s just the fact that he balances the immense amount of love within him with the restrictions of working in a malicious and powerful crime family which comes off as really interesting to me. I’m most interested in why he is loyal to Big Mom and how he became affiliated with her and I wonder if we’ll ever get a better idea, and also if both of his big bro’s dying by Mom’s hands would be enough to push him over the edge of betrayal.
As for Tamago and why I started this section the way I did, his response, to feel some level of pity for his comrade Pekoms, and a clear level of respect for Pedro was freaking awesome! It made him a character I like when before he was a character I was indifferent to. Tamago saw how strong and resilient Pedro was, in combat and on death's door, giving his all to live longer, and knowing that amazing man chose to die for Luffy, he knows they better believe Luffy is a worthy adversary. Clearly Pedro thought so! To show that kind of understanding and respect, while being on the other side of the battle, and using that to better their chances in combat was just totally rad. “An arrogant champion will be knocked off his feet!” Yep, Tamago, you have ascended to a character I look forward to seeing more of!
Other than these scenes, I enjoyed the minimal content of Bege’s escape, it was cool even if not that meaningful in my view. That said, at first when seeing more of the Germa fight, I rolled my eyes. As if every time we see them fighting there is almost nothing interesting going on. I love seeing them the first time because I like the characters but at some point flashing back to the fight for the Germa Kingdom became redundant. That said, the feeling immediately vanished when I saw that brilliant pose of the Vinsmokes standing on the corpses of their enemies with Niji holding evil Zoro by the throat and stealing his voice. With that, there has been plot advancement and one freaking cool moment.
Katakuri, one of the only few villians that think logically, by distrupting Luffy's gear 4th power up to avoid getting himself harmed, you always get enemies that are overconfident and let their guard down while getting beaten, but seriousness is why Katakuri is so formidable and worth 1 Billion beri.

Woah Katakuri's different from other antagonists in the show as he stated himself he ain't underestimating Luffy which probably everyone did in the whole series
If Katakuri can turn his surroundings into mochi like with Doflamingo, I reckon that Luffy will be able to imbue his immediate vicinity with the properties of rubber once he awakens his ability since they have similar abilities. I wonder how it'd work for Zoan types and other special Devil Fruit abilities that aren't as simple as the awakened powers shown so far.
The Raid Suits having a voice modulator function was pretty cool. I'd love to see more of its features.
Luffy's still completely outmatched but at least he wasn't completely crushed at that last bit. I hope that Gear 4th will be able to turn things around soon.
Katakuri is amazing "Why should I have to just stand and watch while you upgrade your power?" That scene was amazing this might be the first time I've seen something like this and katakuri isn't underestimating luffy he's become one of my most favorite villains
So, will Germa leave or will they reinforce the straw-hats
Big mom pirates are kinda lame outside of their designs and abilities.
Luffy kind dumb unstoppable
LOL to the creative way of tricking moshi-boy LOL Gear 4 is his only chance of facing him. I'd argue that gear 4 is Luffy's version of awakening, at least in some way, since he has to use it to beat very strong awakened opponents. The big downside, that I think Luffy knew, is he only gets 10 minutes. Now learned that Moshi-boy does not only match his Gear 2 and Gear 3 abilities, but is far superior in them.
